Before I had recently moved , for some time I had been using the ASUS  DSL-N66U router with my FTTC 50 MB connection from SSE ( part of the Daisy UK group) , this replaced the generic Technicolour router that was supplied .

Since moving house, I changed provider  to BT Inifinty , and I noticed the ASUS router did not initially work with the new ISP  ( BT) on the new property .  However I assumed the Router was faulty then replaced it with an Identical model (DSL N66U ) . This initially worked for around 48 Hours but , eventually the DSL conneciton dropped and stopped working ( same behaivour as the initial Asus Router )  . Out of curiousity I tried some other third party routers  ( the Technicolour from SSE , Netgear router from EE  ) all of the other third pary routers worked without problem . Furthermore the BT home hub works just fine

However my long term aim is to have the Asus working, to take advantage of the extra  features and possible firmware unlocking . Both Asus routers are on the most recent firmware . I am not sure what the issue is  . I just thought that someone may have had this same issue with ASUS and BT ?

Any help would be appreciated

question :
when disconnection occurs, look immediate at dsl log ...
the dsl uptime is resetting to 0:0:0:0 (this should be due to line or dslam issue) ???...
or still counts normal (line did not drop connection but seems just lost ip) ???

Advice/Tips given are from my own experience & Not from Asus Support...I Do Not Work for Asus... Thanks

In the last year, I had a lot of problems with my DSL-N66U
I started getting a lot of DSL drops and/or ppp drops, and the DSL sync rate gradually dropped from 78M to just 50M over a period of a few months. Lots of CRC errors and interleaving was imposed on both uplink and downlink. I was using the latest firmware and also tried the latest betas. Nothing helped.

The wi-fi also became unreliable and often just stopped working, although this may be an unrelated problem.

BT insisted there were no line or DSLAM problems, but that their diagnostics would only work properly if I was to use a BT home hub. I did not have one to try.

One suggestion was that BT were slowly enforcing their BT SIN498 policy behind the scenes, and this led to the problems with the “non bt approved” ASUS router.

So, I eventually gave up the struggle and asked BT to send me a new HH6. Since switching to this HH6 the connection became stable and the DSL sync rate gradually increased to 76M. No more line/DSL/ppp drops, and no more wi-fi problems, and the connection has been 100% stable for a couple of months now.

Go figure….

Not sure if helps in your case ... go at wan > internet detection > edit > and set internet detection to disable
If you have older firmware and internet detection is not present...
at additional pppd options add the command
lcp-echo-interval 0
or
lcp-echo-interval 0 lcp-echo-failure 4
