Just can't seem to get this new ac658u to detect or see my usb. Both the router and  usb 3.0 cable are brand new the router is running latest firmware and everything else seems to be working fine. The USB cable is hooked to a Synology DS1213 NAS  working fine over the network cables but not the USB ?

Any suggestions ?

Log into your router, go to the Wireless page, Go to the Professional tab, make sure you are on the 2.4 Ghz dropdown box, down toward the bottom of that page is "Reducing USB 3.0 interference". Change this to disable, lo and behold, the USB 3.0 drive shows up.
I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Thanks for the tip. No such luck here. Router can't see the device whose battery it's charging. Not so high-end after all.

Confirmed.  This solution also worked for me.  Problem started when upgraded to Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.380_1842

Thank you SO much. I had only just started trying to get a USB3 drive to work and was going nowhere. So glad I stumbled on this post first as I could have spend the rest of my life looking for this solution, which, clearly, worked for me!>
