Hi there, I updated the firmware as instructed on my R1, everything went right w/o problems. Thanks a lot. But I could not play youtube. I installed youtube module, it worked on some clips, but sometimes showed "cannot play media file". In online services, the youtube was not working. It always showed "cannot play media file". How can I solve the problem? Thanks a bunch.

Hi, I'd really like to know how you did this as, following your instructions, all I could get was a slow system with no access to my network and on the Youtube page, all I got was "Cannot play media file". Impossible to play Music either.

Finally, at least you gave us the way to go back to the original Asus firmware with your method.

There must be something else to do that you forgot to mention. I went through the whole moServices site and could not find either any help there. And I forgot to say that half the menus are in russian, which does not really help. Are you sure this is an alternative method? I'm simply sorry to find out that Asus has dropped any further updates on these gizmos.

Well it has been some time BUT a new solution is available for everyone!

You can update the ASUS oPLAY HD boxes to the PATRIOT BOX R70R2 FIRMWARE AFTER YOU HAVE UPDATED below to AMP Firmware.

BUT! -> You will need a Patriot BOX Remote Control. eBay 5.00 or less.

http://www.patriotmemory.com/forums/showthread.php?2131-Update-04-04-2011-PBO-Firmware-Releases

PLUS!

There is a mede8 firmware update that ROCKS! the media player too! ( I run both firmware's.. )

MedeBO_V4.0.4_SHIZZL_MOD_3.2 is the firmware name... do a google search for it.

Download it.. rename it to boot properly and using a patriot remote ENJOY!

FYI: the Patriot Box Multimedia Player box is EXACTLY the same box as the ASUS oPLAY HD1,2 etc. other than remote codes.

Now you have the best (old) media player on the market!

ENJOY!
