Hi P..

You can't do that...   You can use either DDR2 ... or ... DDR3... Not both together...

Hi P...

You already have 8GB of memory installed... four 2GB modules...  These modules are in the black and the yellow slots...  so you can not add any more DDR2 memory.... you can not go to 12GB of DDR2 memory.  The red slots can not use DDR2 memory....  only DDR3 memory.. and you can not use DDR2 and DDR3 memory together on this board.

You 'might' be able to install 16GB of DDR2... but that is unlikely to be successful as no memory vendor that I am aware of has set up 16GB kits for the board.

If you are asking about mixing DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066, that usually doesn't work... but if it did, all the memory would run at 800Mhz.

The fourth (4) module of 2 GB are installed in red & yellow slot .It's guarantee . I want to add 2 memory module of 2 GB (in 1066 MHz)in black slot The manual says that the black slot can be installed only at DDR2 1066 MHz or DDR3 memories . My question is if DDR2 800 MHz and 1066MHz memories can work together . I don't care if the memory module 1066MHz runs at 800MHz

Hi P..

DDR2 can not work (or fit) in the red slots... !!  So I really don't know exactly what is going on in your system...  The system can not use DDR2 and DDR3 together.

DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066 can sometimes work together but at 800Mhz only...  unless the DDR2 800 is very very good memory.

You are right. I have installed 2 x 2 GB DDR2 800MHz in black slot . I'll move this memory module in red slot. If I add 2 memory modules (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066MHz in black slot will it work ? Does the mainboard recognize all memmories installed in the slots? I want it to have a 12GB Total memory RAM because I have installed Windows 2008 R2 & HyperV machine . Will it work ?

Hi P...

DDR2 in the black and yellow slots...  DDR3 in the red slots....    Four slots for DDR2   ...  Two slots for DDR3.  If you are using DDR2, you can not install DDR3...  No DDR2 memory in the red slots.

The memory controller can see 16GB of DDR2... so it 'might' be possible to install three 4GB modules for a total of 12GB..

Once again, you can not use the red slots for DDR2 memory... and if you want more than 8GB of DDR2 memory, you would need compatible 4GB memory modules...

I don't know of any memory assember who list 4GB modules as compatible with your board... so trying to use 12GB would be a gamble.

The system can support VT ... if your processor supports VT...  What processor are you using on your board..?
