Hi everyone,
since nobody started writing about current bugs and wishes for a future firmware release, here's my list.
This is the bugs I accountered for the very first firmware release:
1. The internal fan is ALWAYS on as soon as you connect an internal harddrive (regardless of the temperature of the harddrive or the o!play itself). Some harddrives simply don't get that hot to be in the need of a working ventilation. Fan should be deactivateable.
2. When inserting net-ID and password for network shares it is currently not possible to enter CAPITAL letters. The "Aa"-button on the remote doesn't work in this case.
3. SAMBA shares are only possible if all computers are in a workgroup called "WORKGROUP". The name of the workgroup should be changeable.
4. Accessing folders on the internal hardware or accessing folders on a networkshare is not very user friendly. There is far too many clicks needed to access these things. Example: To access a folder on the internal harddisk the following steps are neccessary:
->main navigation (eg. movies)
->search folders
->harddrive
->letter of the harddrive
->folder on harddrive
So "Shortcuts" or links to these things on the main menu would be great (especially to the internal drive - since this is a very common thing. Same thing with network shares. Direct shortcuts to shared folders on main (or 2nd level) navigation would be great.
5. iPhone/iPad/mobile phone access could be greatly improved. Instead of just displaying some of the remote control buttons, a mobile phone should additionally display the name of the file (movie, audio, ...) that is currently playing (or even the whole menu structure of the o!play). This way the mobile phone could be used to play music, radio channels etc. without having to turn on the TV at all.
This is only the first couple of things that come to my mind right away. But I'm pretty sure there's much more. So keep this list updated.
Regards,
Pacey

Also, settings for wireless connection to be able to add wireless usb dongle to it. It recognizes my wireless usb but I'm not able to set it up because of lack of wireless settings in the menu.

Hi everyone, I want to point out a high priority matter for me about HD2 that i want to be added as new feature in the near future. O!Play HD2 can't play audio files with .dts extension. This is very unthoughtful and unpleasant for users/buyers. I honestly can't see why someone makes a media player able to decode DTS on an .mkv file but can't play/decode .dts audio files. I hope ASUS conceder that serious and come out very soon with a new Firmware Update. If anyone agrees with me, let me know with a comment. In addition i want to clarify that .dts audio files are audio files like mp3's with much less compression, with much more quality and with multiple channels. Exactly like DTS sound on movies but think about it as a song. So we want to listen to our favorite songs with 6 channels audio from HD2 Player.
Thanks for your time.

| Hi All,
Let me suggest few modification for next firmware release:
1-Audio through HDMI should be able to turn off
2-Folders for indexing should be selectable
3-Default view mode shoud be selectable (List or thumbnails)
4-there should be an option to change the size of thumbnails
5-NAS functions (which one I like to use actually) should be settable via browser
These modifications would be very useful!

Tags such as <i></i> are not displayed correctly (italic fonts in subtitles). Where is the option to view Youtube, and other video sharing sites? I also need options to adjust: - borders/shadows around the fonts (because now it's almost unreadeable when movie has brighter scenes at the bottom)

| When switching between the NAS Services there is first a "yes and no" question if I would like to switch to this service. After that I have to confirm this... one step too much! Further the preconfigured answer is "no" so I have to do one useless step to switch to "yes".
A simple preconfigured "yes" and no second confirmation would be enough. Less is sometimes more !
Last but not least - remote accessable NAS services please !
And public source-code (every firmwarerelease!) please ... as to be seen at ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/asus/Digital_Media_Player/HDP-R3/SourceCode/ for the HDP-R3.

| Well all services should run as daemons so you could use ur player with nas functions enabled all the time
This is a huge bug that this cant be achived
And
BT client should not only handle 1 file at the time but a option to handle more

| Remote accessable (enable/disable) NAS services please instead of remote viewable NAS Status via HTML.
As far as I can see... Asus took a little less Memory inside the box (128 MB) and so no several extra-services can be started. There is enough Memory for just one extra-service at all... thank you Asus ! That´s why they have to be switched and can not be started all together. Even the single download of the inbuild BT-Client is because of missing Memory for caching work.

removal compression for MKV files. "This feature
has been part of the Matroska specification since more than six
years, and there's no excuse for refusing to add support for it." (http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/faq.html)

| It would be awesome if you can set a password on the samba shares. Now everyone in my lan can access my internal hard drive placed in the Asus Oplay HD2. It must also possible to add users? And set a password on the user that is created?
It would be also awesome if you can multitask on this device. If i would use the Torrent cliënt, i can not access my samba share. I would use both at the same time. When i listen only to music, it must be possible to use the samba share at the same time?
