In my UL30A laptop. It has the Atheros AR9285 wireless card with N capability.  If I go to ASUS download page, not a single Atheros driver is listed for either OS.  I hope I was not an unlucky one who just received a laptop with the troubled wireless problems on older laptops for this model.  There has to be a driver listed by ASUS for this Atheros. I mean I just received laptop, it was not purchased 2 years ago.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

You are not alone...I have the same problem.  My driver version is 8.0.0.238...I think this may be the latest though..

tech support is clueless...the problem is with the atheros card itself...99% of cards have 2 antenna's...this card has 1 and thus lacks full communicating capabilities. replace yourself or send in to be serviced

so I,ve purchased a notebook with an atheros card which was outdated from the start? My netspeed is about 3 mbit, although I have an 10mbit connection. I am shocked, no one told me that I was about to buy a notebook with a totally insufficient netcard.

I believe I have found a solution!

My UL30A would continually disconnect, relocate and authenticate my home wifi even when close to the router. My other laptop didn't have the problem so I was suspecting the Atheros 9285 card or the driver.

After scouring the internet I have found a new Atheros driver (9.0.0.173). I've installed it and the system now seems to work flawlessly. The driver can be found here:
