I am wondering if anyone tried to download HDP-R3 firmware into the HDP-R1 unit. Will the firmware work? I would be most interested if the wireless works, in addition to other features in the HDP-R3 that we don't have. Please report and share.

I am running the 1.21/1.09 wireless hybrid firmware on my R1.  It works just great on either a "G" or "N" connection.  I am very happy with it's performance, and the wireless features.  I have not tried to install 1.12 (R3), worrying that Asus has put an equipment check in the firmware and will nullify my wireless R1.  I trust someone will report if they are successful updating from 1.09 to 1.12.

Thanks Grumpa. I actually still have the first version of the 1.21/1,09 firmware in which Asus seem to accidently open up the wireless port. I remember some were mentioning that 1.09 was HDP-R3 firmware which mistakenly rolled out for the HDP-R1. So I wonder whether there is any equipment check.

The danger is if ASUS intentionally locks up the HDP-R1 if someone downloads the R3 firmware. That is where my question is coming from. If I could then I would just download the R3 firmware and take its advantages. id="refHTML">
