I hope someone can help. I have PC2-8500 1066Mhz C5 BLACK DRAGON QUAD CHANNEL memory in my m4n82 but cannot get it to run at 1066 only 800. I have tried many settings but just cant seem to find ones that  work. I checked QVL before buyin this and it is on the list. model number GB24GB8500C5QC. I hope someone has an answer. would really like to get it working right.

Jeff,

1st clear CMOS, and reset up bios settings. Be sure to manually set memory speed 1066, timeings 5-5-5-15, and volts 2.2 -2.4 vdc. Most ASUS MOBOs like to run their memory with just 2 sticks of memory, not 4. Like 2x2G not 4x1G. Unless you are useing 64 bit operating system. Please recheck QVL for this memory.

CMOS holds details of attached hardware while BIOS stores various settings and values that apply to that hardware as well as motherboard settings. If the hardware has changed for any reason, CMOS details will not match the current setup and the BIOS values will no longer apply and will either fail or become unstable. I'd recommend a CMOS reset when installing or changing any hardware that has a BIOS value which covers just about everything short of inserting a neon light."

Clear CMOS:
1.) immediately following a new build, before power is applied
2.) immediately following any hardware change/upgrade
3.) after flashing BIOS

Thanks for the info but that didnt work either. Just hangs at express gate after save and exit and then after i restart says overclocking failed. Any other ideas. I goofed buying this mem. It is on the QVL but should have stuck with 2 x2 instead of 4 x 1.

I'm thinking what Randy said is correct your 4x1 sticks may not be able to run at 1066. Just to be sure your sticks are fine try taking 2 of them out and then seting speeds at 1066 to see what happens
