Hi!

I have an Asus P5RC-LA motherboard. I want to do a fresh XP install on it - but I just cant find any drivers for the board.

picture of model.

It is not an OEM HP machine, it was bought from a PC tech who I cant contact a few years back.

I'm also looking for a SATA driver for the XP install - I have a floppy.

Thanks!!

Hi G...

It is actually an OEM HP/Compaq designed board made for them by Asus... so there is no support for it here...

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00587163

What happens is that when HP/Compaq are done assembling a certain system, they dump the remainder of the mainboards they have on the 'WhiteBox' market for small system assemblers to buy very cheap and use in custom systems....

Hi!

Thanks for the answer!
Is there any way to get drivers for the board or this is no chance?
How did the tech have the drivers?
I can't find any download links in HP web site...

G.

Hi G..

Seems like this board was used in the Presario SR1800NX desktop system...

See if any of the drivers listed are the ones you need....

Hi!

T-H-A-N-K   Y-O-U   Ulrich!!

I did a fresh install on an old HDD using the SR1800NX drivers (was afraid the drivers are not the right ones) and all devices are recognized in "Computer Management".

How did you find that model? Which search engine did you use?

Thanks for your help!
Appreciated.

G.

Hi G..

So glad that worked for you...

You'd be amazed at all the technical clutter there is in my head... after so many years working in computer design, manufacture and retailing.  I knew the board was HP/Compaq and did a little googling ...
