EFI BIOS 0221 dated 08/21/2009 - released October 19, 2009

The first version of an EFI BIOS for this board.
EFI is a whole new generation of BIOS, and was originally developed by Intel.
EFI stands for Extensible Firmware Interface.

This bios not install ,The boot sector is not found

This would be great if I could flash my BIOS with it.

I am also getting "Boot block is not valid" when I try to flash.

Are there any other motherboards getting EFI? EFI has been something I've been waiting for a few years now.

Thirded here - it won't flash.

Although I've been quite critical about the P5Q Deluxe's quality and reliability problems, I must say that I'd be extremely impressed if Asus goes to the effort of releasing EFI firmware for this board when it isn't even a current model any more - that shows real respect for their customers.

Having said that, the EFI ROM image they've currently got available for download has clearly been subjected to Asus's usual rigorous level of testing and quality assurance, given that it won't even flash!

After viewing the ROM with a hex editor it doesn't even look like a real BIOS. At least not one that the BIOS flasher would accept. Either it's a junk file or you have to force the flash. I won't be testing a force though.

Looks like a valid AMI "Aptio" BIOS to me.
Obviously, you need a different program to flash an "AMIBIOS 8" ROM and an "Aptio" one, especially because you need to rewrite the Boot Block, amongst others things.

I have stitched this bios and so in it many errors! More shortly continuous glitches!win7 x64 remap on sees all 3328GB RAM!!!!!(((( And should be 8GB!
We wait the new version....
So I was rolled away on 2201.

SUCCESS!! I used the BIOS flasher mentioned by shroeder.

Don't mind it saying DDR 800. That's the default setting. After setting to 1066 it changed to 1066.

Make sure you leave RAM settings alone. I set everything to what I had back on regular BIOS 2201 and Linux would not boot. With default settings Linux boots just fine. It seems stable so far. I've run a few benchmarks and compared the previous BIOS output to the EFI one. It's the same. There are way more settings in the EFI BIOS. I can post more pics if you guys want.

This BIOS boots very fast! So hit the DEL key until you see the BIOS screen or else you will miss it.

Thanks ASUS!! EFI is the way to go.

edit: uh oh. The previous poster is right. I only have 3gb of memory showing. PCI memory remapping is not working. I'll see if I can fix it. If not I'm going back to the old BIOS.

edit2: PCI Memory Remapping is definitely broken. With it disabled I have 3.2gb. With it enabled I have 3gb.

I've got it running too, thanks to the new flasher Asus uploaded (thanks to shroeder for pointing it out). Very impressive that they've gone to the effort!

I have 8GB in my machine, and Windows 7 is reporting 8GB with 7GB usable, so there's clearly something a bit off. I'll fiddle with the settings and see what happens.

The question now is: Who wants to try to install Snow Leopard?!
