I have pretty interesting problem with lifeframe2, because about a month ago it worked well on my computer and when I now try to open it..."Lifeframe2 runs on ASUS laptops only!" [OK]
Pressing ok will terminate the program. I've had Vista Ultimate 64-bit for about a year now.

It would be nice to adjust webcam through lifeframe, if it works. However...I downloaded Asus screensaver and it uses webcam through my VK266H well. So, where is the problem? Lifeframe software? Have I installed some programs which lifeframe doesn't like? Tried couple of times to reinstall lifeframe2...no effect.

Hi, Please browse the CD, you can find H:\LifeFrame\data\409.msi, please right click it and let it install without using any setup file .
If still no use, you can download the driver from asus web for a try:

No use...still the same problem occurs! I think it's because I have Vista 64bit operating system which Lifeframe 2 doesn't support? Is there coming up any updates for lifeframe in the future? Anyone knows?

I have been having the same issue with LifeFrame. I originally installed it on Vista 32bit SP1 and it worked fine for a while. Then I started getting the "Lifeframe2 runs on ASUS laptops only!" error and after romoving and reinstalling a million times trying various things, I finally got it working again. Then today I just installed Vista SP2 and the error came back.  These are the steps I went trhough that finally got it working again. Not sure how long this will last before something else screws it up again.

1. Uninstall the ASUS USB2.0 Webcam driver from within device manager
2. Uninstall the LifeFrame software
3. Delete the LifeFrame registry keys if they still exist:
      HKCU\Software\ASUS\LifeFrame
      HKLM\Software\ASUS\LifeFrame
4. Unplug the Webcam
5. Install the latest LifeFrame from the ASUS download page
6. Plug in the Webcam

Note: At this point the software would attempt to load without the above error, but would shortly crash.

7. Rename the C:\Program Files\ASUS\LifeFrame2\camera_effect.ax file to something else (add .old to the end or something)
8. Lauch the LifeFrame software and click OK to "The Effect Filter is not found" error.
9. Once the software is loaded, rename the above file back to it's original name.
10. Click the Advanced Settings button. It is the last button on the toolbar under the image box and looks like a wrench.
11. In the video device box choose the ASUS USB2.0 Webcam and click close. On my system the box was blank when I first opened the panel.
12. Close LifeFrame and reload the software.

After all of this I was able to use the software just fine without error.

I have same problem with you,..

ASUS tell me:

Firstly, please make sure your OS is win XP SP2 or above.

Secondly, please notice that Lifeframe2 may not work correctly with OEM OS. We suggest you install Lifeframe2 into the original OS.

If you connect other USB Video Device to the PC, please remove it. So that Lifeframe2 can read build-in webcam directly.

If the software in support CD cannot work correctly, please try the one downloaded from ASUS support site.

I've tried the steps listed in the link above in order, also tried using 409.msi- nothing i've tried works on my vk246h. I bought it on sale for same price as camless model and don't need it that much but i'd be super ticked off if i had bought it for that w/ no 64-bit support for this long. EDIT I just download manycam - 1st (working) cam program i tried, dunno if it's any good or not but it works w/ vk264h, i'm sure many others do as well. so lifeframe not working isn't such a huge deal guess.

Hi there,

Same problem on a screen VK222U...
Does this company totaly sucks or what?

I tried to download their update or drivers from their web site, for nothing better...
Their phone line says that they may call back the next day...
What kind of support is that?
The worst ever!

If any one get a solution to fix the problem, I'd be happy to know it...
Have a good day,
Martin

P.S: I tried all of the above to no results...

lifeframe doesn't work on my windows 7 64-bit but everything else i tried does work- webcamera plus, manycam, split cam, eyeball chat, active webcam, webcamMax, camtasia- not all are good, but all detect and work w/ cam on my vk246h. so lifeframe not so good, but cam does work.
