I want to add a second hard drive to my G50Vt-X5, but when took off the hard drive cover, there is no mounting bracket for the second drive.

Is there some place I can get one?

Thanks,

Silver Tiger

It has been out of stock since I bought this laptop. I am tired of carrying around my backup USB drive, and have ZERO confidence that I will avoid another total crash/wipe out.

I see no reason why I could not fabricate a thin piece of plastic to hold the second drive in place. My only question: the mounting bracket is metal, so does that provide a 'case ground'?

you could try that? (i haven't tried it yet)

here is a more accurate way.

open up the bottom of your computer, take out your hard drive and caddy, make some sketches and measurements, BEND AWAY!

should be easy enough, just gotta find the screws to match.

I got a note from Asus telling me that they had more in.  I got it a feww weeks ago and If I could figure out why my G50VT will not see the second drive all would be good.

i installed a new seagate 320gig 7200 rpm sata in my g50vt made my own bracket very easy. as for your drive not being seen i assume you are going to control panel>admin tools>computer management>storage>disk managment then find the unknown drive right click on the unknown drive block intialize the drive then format it. i didnt have any problems with my install works great! hope this helps! curt
