In the E3506 Manual for the P5N-T Deluxe it says:
"When using hot-plug and NCQ, set the J-Micron eSATA/PATA Controller Mode in the BIOS to [AHCI]"

I recently sent an email to ASUS tech support asking why my eSATA port wasn't working and that I had to have Windows rescan devices to find my external drive. ASUS support asked me to enable this option in the BIOS. I've seached the BIOS (1303) and there is no option for this.

In the mean time, I've disabled the Marvell SATA chipset because... it was useless to begin with. If someone can please tell me where I can enable this, that would be fantastic! Otherwise, I will just get myself another SATA to eSATA connector, that works great on the hot-swap.

I don't think this MB uses JMicron chip for eSATA, instead it uses the Marvell chip for eSATA (Marvell 88SE61XX).

If you want to enable eSATA make sure you use the standard divers that came with the MB and/or search for

STOR_AllOS_F6flpy_1.2.0.51_PV_Marvell.exe

or

STOR_AllOS_MRUSetup_1.2.0.60_PV_Marvell.exe

and use it instead.

Only tested with XP and Vista, not sure if it works only anything before those OS ie Windows 98, NT etc...

It specifically says to use J-Micron in the P5N-T user manual but that's where the trail goes cold, can't find any other info on how to make it happen.  See page 2-24 in the user manual or search PDF for J-Micron.

That's when I posted this thread, was right after I read J-Micron and was completely lost. I've been so frustrated with the eSATA not working, I simply disabled it in the BIOS. I currenlty have a SATA to eSATA port, I'm just going to by another one. The SATA runs of the nVidia chipset which works with any headache or running around. I miss my P5N32-SLI Prem... I wish it liked my Q9550. Oh wells... last time I buy a motherboard in a heart beat...

Unless this MB has been updated with different eSATA chip then according to my manual under P5N-T Deluxe specification summary (page XI)

Storage

Marvell SATA controller supports:
- 1 x External SATA 3GB/s port.

You're right KNT they did update the manual.  I had the old manual to, it was the first time I noticed that there was a lot of stuff missing.  They have a full manual now at the ASUS site, there are 2 manual's just download the largest one.  Take care.
