Wow, what a nice start of the day... I browsed to the Asus' support site (http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us) and saw a new official driver update: It's v5.12.8.1747 for XP and v6.12.8.1747 for Vista.

Changelog:
- Upgrade new DS3D GX v.2.5 3D sound engine to support more vivid environmental reverberation sound effects for games and music.
- Fixed Bugs:
1. No music in Mass Effects game
2. Crash issue in Oblivion game

I haven't tested them... yet... ;)

There are also download links for Xonar U1 available (also for MacOS!), but it's too complicated, because they differ in version numbering and changelog.

Speakers still screwing up. Vocal effects don't work.

Much worse than the Vista 81725

Pretty sad. :(

I had to uninstall the new drivers.  They slowed my system down to a slow crawl.  And this was after doing a clean install of Vista 64 and updating all drivers, etc. and no overclocking.

My system would take a command (let's say 'start menu') pause until the system 'caught up', open the start menu, pause, and continue.

I went back to the older drivers, and everything is up to speed.

So far the new driver is working good for me.  Since switching to optical out I've noticed mic issues with all drivers but I'm working through it.

Bah, still problems with Mass effect.
Do someone think that one day, Asus will move theirs asses and will make REAL Drivers ?
Getting BSODS again with them about cmudap.sys (don't remember thet exact name).
Won't going to recommend asus card for a while.

Update:
Okay, worse than I think.
With Clear Sky,now, I've got no sound at all when disabling GX, and half of them with It.
I am VERY VERY (here, you musn't read Very, but read every words that your parents told you to not use when you were young) with Asus, and I'm regretting badly my choice. You won't get me twice Asus, I swear. Creative are far from kind, but their cards works.

Oblivion still crashes... (HsSrv.dll) is at fault.

I completely uninstalled the previous driver and installed this new BETA driver. Oblivion still crashes when the DS3DGX option is turned ON. I'm running VISTA x64, 8GB DDR2, Q6600.

Here is the crash report...

Ah, happy to see I'm not crazy !
This Asus Is putting bul***** in their changelog.

The more they update the drivers, the less the card work and the more you get BSOD. Great !

Achievement Unlocked: Made some of the crappiest piece of Driver ever done !

Reverted back to 1731, only ones who make Mass Effect works correctly with me.

I've seen no improvement with the new drivers.  Medieval 2 still doesn't support EAX properly, sound still breaks up in Trackmania Nations : United, still getting loud bursts of sound in Stalker, still getting crackling and popping in Multiwinia.  Honestly, what are Asus expecting me to do at this point?  I should send it to them as unfit for purpose.
