Hi,
My optical drive is shot, it doesn't read anything . So needs replacing. How do I remove it to replace. The machine is out of warranty, so I want to do it my self.. I have done lots of repairs on desktop computers, and I'm generally clear about the risks and precautions involved with working on computers. I would be grateful if somebody could tell me the location of the retaining screws for the drive, or what ever method Asus use to hold it in place.

Many thanks,

James

Hello,

My DVD-drive is also useless. Is it possible to change it ? And if yes, how and by which model ?
Is there a list of compatible models ?

My notebook : F3Jp 0514 Z53Jseries A050C
DVD drive : LG GSA-T10N

Can you please help me ?

First you can change it,
Just a few minutes ago i take out my Asus F3JC notebook optical drive. I think this two models same. I remove 7 screw from bottom cover and 1 screw from optical drive.
After open bottom cover also i remove 1 screw from optical drive.

If you can not solve your problem i can send pictures of how you can change it.
