Hi there,

After a succesfull couple of year with a Blitz Extreme I purchased a Striker II extreme.

Just finished installing all basic components :
Intel Core2 Xtreme QX9770
2x xCellShock DDR3 1800
Asus EAH4870
2 x Barracuda 1TB
Enermax Galaxt 1000W
I booted the MB and it continues to give me only a long beep.

Same thing if I disconnect GPU, HDs and RAM, and LCD poster says "CPU INIT"
With RAM connected it says "DET RAM"

The long beep is making me crazy.....
Any help is appreciated !

Thanks in advance.

Note that I'm using water cooling device now, and I have nothing on the CPU_FAN connector.
Is that a problem for booting the mobo? If yes : how can I workaround it ?

I used another cpu fan to plug there, but same errors.

no ram : lcd poster says "CODE INIT"
with ram ( cellshock DDR3 1800 ) : "DET DRAM"

I tried clear cmos many times... same errors.

Hi wvision!

The long beep was down to there being no fan plugged into the CPU fan plug!

The DET RAM is probably down to not supplying enough voltage to your memory.  Find out the manufacturer's specifications and change the voltage in the BIOS to that -- please bare in mind that this board tends to overvolt RAM; it can actually supply anywhere inbetween 0.02v - 0.08v over what you specifiy in the Overvoltage screen in the BIOS.  It's probably best to make small adjustments and check the Hardware Monitor each time you boot up.  You're required voltage will probably be roughly 1.7v - 1.9v (don't just go by that though, google for your model number on the side of the RAM stick).

Might be a good idea to manually set you timings and what not, adjust NB voltage somewhat and maybe your CPU voltage.

Let us know how you get on!

Thanks,

Unfortunately I cannot enter the BIOS screen, this is the first boot of the mobo, the monitor is BLANK ( EAH4870 ), no display at all....
My RAM model has this specs :

2 x Cellshock 1800 DDR3 Dual 2GB , 8-7-6-21 , 1.9v ( CS3222580 )

That's a bugger!

Looks like you have enough power for your system (1000w).  Make sure that the board isn't touching your case anywhere, to rule out a possible short circuit - might be an idea to use those rubber spacers that came with the S2E, if you haven't already.

Try booting with both sticks of memory inserted into the white slots.  If that doesn't help, try it with only one stick in the white slot closest to the CPU.

The mobo is on a Thermaltake case, with watercooling. Not easy to do that, and I don't see any short circuit possibility as the case is perfecly isolated, and all cables too.

I will try anyway, but I never had a similar problem.....

No way. Now the mobo is completely isolated with the boundled rubbers, same problem.
"DET DRAM" and long beep.

Note that the same config was working with the Blitz Extreme the 1st boot....

Try connecting your monitor to the graphics chip using an analogue (VGA) cable and an adaptor or use an old CRT. This certainly helped me back when trying to get mine to run. With any luck you should at least get a display. I know this isn't very practical, but you could try getting a single 1GB stick of DDR3, that will run on 1.5V. (Preferably at 1066MHz) and see if you can get past DET DRAM.

unfortunately I don't have any other ddr3 memory....
I'm trying to get one from the vendor, but they are saying that I should send back the mobo instead...
