Hello all,

I just bought a G50VM-X1 from Best buy and so fare all works well. But I am not very happy with the High demands and compatibility problems from Vista 64bit, plus I have a lot of old 32bit programs, so my question is, Can I downgrade to XP 32bit, I'm fully aware about the mem limit, but I'm sure I could live with "only" 3.5 G Ram.
I have a XP 32bit Full version, but the problem will be all the drivers, so fare I haven't found any XP drivers on ASUS support pages.
Have anyone tried this Downgrade and found any drivers ?

Most of the hardware devices of both G50V and F8Sa are the same. So, I think you can try to use the same F8Sa XP drivers and utilities.

The chipsets of these 2 models are different.  G50V uses Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M.  So, the chipset driver must be downloaded directly from the following Intel site.

Cheers!!

Thanks Willy,

As soon as I got hold on my XP cd, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the links, I didn't knew about the F8Sa,
I'll sure give it a try.
If it don't work I can always go back, as I have a complete restore DVD and drivers.

It's ridiculously Vista on a stand alone mode (No other applications running) eats up 34 -36 % of your memory. It's just an OS......

Cheers

John

I have completed successfully the XP installation on G50V for my friend.  Most of the drivers and utilities of F8Sa are OK.

The following 2 hardware devices of G50V must use their own drivers.

Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M – Get the XP driver directly from Intel.

Bluetooth (AZUREWAVE_BT-253) – Use the driver in the Vista driver CD (accompanied with the notebook computer when you bought).

Cheers!!

Where did you get the Atheros wireless and 9700 GT video drivers from?  The ones for the F8Sa doesn't work.
