Hi there,

I have been an Asus Fanatic for roughly 10 years now,i have never doubted the quality of Asus products,until recently...

I purchased 2 x Asus Rampage X48 Mobo's lately.One worked fine the other was an out-of-box failure.What i noticed was that the working one was made in "Taiwan",and the non working one was made in China.

The faulty Rampage was replaced for me,by the retailer from wich i bought it.Again it was a made in China version,and again it was faulty (The USB ports where not functioning)

Again i was given a new one...And once again it was a faulty one.It was also made in China.

A nother thing i noticed with all three of these china made Rampage boards,where that my Zalman cpu cooler did not fit properly,it was obstructed by the heatsink wich is ontop of the USB ports.This Zalan Cpu cooler however,fits like a charm on the Rampage Mobo made in Taiwan...

Now this might seem like a really bad stroke of luck,but i tend to think otherwise.

Below i will type out a list of all the Asus products i can recall buying:

Geforce 5950Ultra -> O.B.F. -> Replaced
Geforce 7900GTX -> O.B.F. -> Replaced
Geforce 8800GTX -> O.B.F. -> Replaced
P5WD2 Premium   -> Failed  -> Credit Given
P5B Delux              -> Failed  -> Repaced
Commando Mobo  -> Failed  -> Credit Given
Rampage Formula   -> O.B.F. -> Repaced
Rampage Formula   -> O.B.F.  -> Repaced
Rampage Formula   -> O.B.F.  -> Credit Given

It seems that Asus is so consumed with making money,that they have forgotton what they where famouse for QUALITY.

Here are some interesting articles :

2: http://bleedingedge.com.au/blog/archives/2008/05/asus_motherboard_scandal.html

I have now repaced my mobo with a Gigabyte one GA-X48-DQ6,sure its not as apealling as the Rampage,BUT IT IS MADE IN TAIWAN and works great.

ASUS SHAME ON YOU,YOU HAVE LOST THE PLOT.I WILL NOT LIKELY BUY ANY ASUS PRODUCTS AGAIN UNTILL THEY DECIDE TO UP THEIR QUALITY,AND STOP RIDING THE GRAVY TRAIN !!!

I believe your thread belongs over in the Rampage Formula forums and not here in the Maximus II Formula forums.  The Maximus II Formula boards use a P45 chipset and not the X48.  Besides my Maximus II Formula, the last Asus board I was extremely happy with was my old A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 1.04.  I chose the P45 chipset over the X48 due to issues some of the X48 chipsets have running 3870 X2's.  The DFI x48 T2R I had before the MIIF suffered from random lockups whenever I used my 3870 X2.

With that much dead hardware, is it possible that you have some other issue causing these failures?
