Hay,
why there are still not yet new drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon X700 video kaart from the ASUS manifacture for the A7D Entertainment Notebook. I was on the ATI site to download the new catalist but before that i was asked to download one Installation Verification Software package. The results there from  are that the new catalist drivers are not suported for this noteboek.  Have anybody the solution?
Thank you...

ATi only provide mobility drivers for some notebooks by other manufacturers. That is what the verification program is about. You need to download the desktop version of Catalyst 8.4 for whichever version of windows you are using. Then head to driverheaven and follow the instructions on the modtool page for creating your own driver package. It is essential that you make sure you have Microsoft's .net Framework 2.0 AND MSXML 4.0 or you won't be able to compile the install routine properly.

It looks complicated but is not and works a treat. If you experience problems with DirectDraw or Direct3D after installing the 8.4 Catalyst, you will need to use 7.12 instead which is available from game.amd.com in the archived drivers section.

@ Thank you Mike for your replay.
Ok, now some mounts later another alternative is to download the latest mobile catalyst.
Without the installation verification software package.
Not to forget mention, installing those drivers is on your own risk.

No problem, glad you found a way round the verification page. I hope it works for you. An alternative source of mobile drivers which I now recommend over mobility modder is www.donotargue.com. Look for the ATI driver download link and head for Catalyst 8.7 (vista only) or 8.8 (vista and now xp version too). They have been created with support for mobility products since 9*** series so yours will be fully incorporated. If you need any help installing, check out the FAQ section. 8.9 will of course be released in due course when it has been tweaked and gone through the beta phase :)

Mike, are those "named" DNA drivers, something same like the Omega drivers?
The first time to hear about them?
DNA - http://www.donotargue.com/
Omega - http://www.omegadrivers.net/
Just to inform also another people about those possibility's.
Here same, not to forget mention, omega drivers are tweaked with no potential to damage your system or video card, but still installing is on your own risk. Greetings, Stevan.

Yes they are the DNA drivers. They are a similar project to Omega drivers but much more comprehensive in their device coverage and include a vastly superior feature.set.

-They have the mobility code from Radeon 9500 onwards as well as fully supporting notebook powersaving features (this is something most 3rd party drivers are lacking).
-They have a separate installer for tweaked AGP Hotfix drivers HD2000/3000
-ATI Removal Tool for clean installation
-A TDR Patch option
-OpenGL legacy file installation option
-ReadyDriver Plus option (unsigned driver installation tweak for Vista)
-Optimised drivers for 3D gamers which do not sacrifice stability or quality (to a visible level)
- FAQ and forum based support with fast turnaround

The great thing about the DNA package is that you can decide which features to use through a simple menu driven installer. There are several configuration options, one of which enables you to use different versions of OpenGL files for example to support legacy programs with increased stability.

As with the Omega drivers, while every precaution is taken to ensure no software conflicts or actual hardware damage will occur to your system, you still use them at your own risk.
