i'm a newbie in computing, and i'm desprate to try becuase I miss the internet on my desktop....

so how i do i clear the cmos,
i did try the asusupdate to downgrade my bios from 1802 to 1701 and now 1603 and they have done nothing....

To clear the cmos...shut down the computer and then unplug it.
Pull the battery out of the motherboard...and right next to the battery you will see a jumper...remove that jumper and install it in pins 2&3...leave it there for 10-15 seconds...then reinstall it in pins 1&2 then install the battery and plug it back in.

At this time any bios changes you made will now be cleared to defaults....So if you like go back into the bios and tweak away....any bios from 1603 and up...make sure you disable AMD Virtulization (if using dual core).

What operating system are you using ? I had this same problem with Windovs Vista Home Premium ,1802 Bios and latest updates . I used drivers for LAN from Asus support CD,but Vista found newones for NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller by internet and I forgot to unclick that update. Speed of my  broadband on all network cards dropped from 10Mbits to 2Mbits. I reinstalled Vista ,installed only important updates, and everything was working fine for me.I am using cable broadband.
By the way,how did you downgraded your bios?
Asus Update was not working for me either to downgrade back to BIOS1201.

So there is nothing that a user can do to fix this problem? It doesn't seem right that if you want to use "standby", you have to pull your computer out and clear the CMOS every time to be able to get online. There has to be some kind of fix,  it's just that if you want to get support from ASUS, you have to give your life history to even submit a support query.

I'm glad to say that new BIOS 1903 at least solved the dead LAN ports after a S3 Suspend State for me.

Now my board is working normally.

Regards.
