Hi,
Have V2-M2V890
New AMD BE-2350 Athlon Processor
Getting the unrecognised cpu message at boot.
So before comin here i googled and read the forums for cpl of hours and am comin here as last resort. (not just lazy)
I downloaded the latest bios from you download page tonight (23/03/08). As per the manual renamed the downloaded file M2VTVM.ROM abd burned to cd rom. When i rebooted the computer and hit alt-f2 it tries to read the wrong file. It tries to read "V-M2V890.ROM".
Tried a couple of cd-r's in case it was a dodgy disk.
So i renamed the file to show the above file name and it still doesnt work. I've used the search feature on your forums and come up with nothing. I've googled me arse off and found nothing.
Can yah tell me why this is happening cause i dont wann a waste my life tryin to work this out.
What do i rename the file to, or do to solve this?
KDoherty.

That's weird. Try V-M2V890.bin
I suppose you don't have a floppy drive laying around.
You could also try the Ausu Update program and do the BIOS update under Windows.

I am having this exact problem.
I first tried the BIOS listed for the barebones unit V2-M2V890, but
using the AFUDOS program and the BIOS M2VTVM-VM890-ASUS-1101.ROM I got
no where.
I then downloaded the BIOS listed for just the motherboard that came
out 3/20/2008 using the ALT+F2 option. This option looked for the file
name of V-M2V890.ROM. So I renamed the file to that, and reburned it.
The BIOS updated STILL failed.
I've spent many hours on this and am more than a little frustrated by
the entire process. I'd try the ASUS Update tool, but it is not listed
as a download option under either the barebones unit or the motherboard.
Does anyone have any suggestions???

"STILL failed" is not very descriptive of the problem. If you could tell us exactly what you see on the screen it would be very helpfull.

| So, I have the same problem, but my machine won't boot anymore. I don't have the Asus support cd... Can anyone make an ISO of the support cd or tell me exactly the name of the file .ROM? Thanks
