Hi, I am running 2 x 3870's. The BIOS PCI settings for crossfire are far from obvious. Such as GFX/GFX2 and port settings #02 through #12.

I have just about managed to get  one card up to PCI 2.0 16x by fiddling with the settings (were originally  only 8x)  but the other card  is  is stuck at PCI 16x (not 2.0). Can anyone help with the PCI setup page in the BIOS???. Many Thanks...

OK I'll answer my own question!... This was gleened from the Crossfire X forums courtesey of Slashhacker:

GFX Dual Slot Config. [auto]
GFX2 Dual Slot Config. [auto]
Peer-to-Peer among GFX/GFX2 [Disabled]
GPP Slots Power Limit, W [75] (default is 25)

Port #02 Features - Gen2 High Speed Mode [Enabled]
Link ASPM [Disable]
Link Width [x16]
Slot Power Limit, W [75]
Port #03 Features - same except Link width is set to x1

Ports 4-10 do not have those features

Port #11 Features - exact same as #2
Port # 12 Features - exact same as #3

both cards show in device manager both are running in x16 PciE

I found that these settings will give 16x 2.0 for both cards. otherwise not.

Hi!

Hmm I can't get these settings in the bios on my mobo. I'm only getting

GFX Dual Slot Config. [auto]
GFX2 Dual Slot Config. [auto]
Peer-to-Peer among GFX/GFX2 [Disabled]
GPP Slots Power Limit, W [75] (default is 25)

None of the Port #02 etc are visible in my bios...

I got a M3A32-MVP Deluxe and a Radeon EAH3870X2

Anyone here got some ideas ? :)

Nickthesafe, I am using the M3A32-MVP WIFI mobo, but should be the same as yours, just yours is missing wifi(which doesn't work anyway for me). I THINK your port#'s should go like this:

port#2 upper blue PCIE slot
port#3 lower blue PCIE slot
port#11 upper black PCIE slot
port#12 lower black PCIE slot

For crossfire I think your video cards need to be in the blue slots. In my bios (603 or 801) you have choice of Gen2 High speed Mode (disabled, software switch, or autonomous switch) If you have those options set ports 2 and 3  to autonomous switch. If you do not then just enable (what bios vers are you using). Also you should have at least the 8.2 ati catalyst drivers, and 8.3 is available. Set ports#11 and 12 back to defaults or disable. Be careful changing the wattage settings on these bios settings, we had one mobo owner burn his PCIE slot and 3870 video card (lots of smoke) on the wifi vers of this board trying to set up trifire. You might want to check the wifi vers forums of this board, and specifcally look for the "trouble with crossfire" post, they have additional bios setttings that might be of interest to you. Hope this helps. Just remember that this is my best guess, thanks to the wonderful job (not) that asus has told us what the bios settings do with this board. Good luck

Made small edit to clarify.
