I have a multiple boot box with currently 4 Linux partitions and Windows XP. On the Linux partitions I get this in 'dmesg' [dmesg is a log of boot actions]:

Checking aperture...
CPU 0: aperture @ 8000000 size 32 MB
Aperture too small (32 MB)
No AGP bridge found
Your BIOS doesn't leave a aperture memory hole
Please enable the IOMMU option in the BIOS setup
This costs you 64 MB of RAM
Mapping aperture over 65536 KB of RAM @ 4000000
Memory: 4021144k/4980736k available (2422k kernel code, 138916k reserved, 909k data, 336k init)

My question is what does the line 'Please enable the IOMMU option in the BIOS setup' mean? I looked in BIOS setup and couldn't figure it out.

On AMD's AMD64 platform, the size of the IOMMU can be configured in the system BIOS or, if no IOMMU BIOS option is available, using the 'iommu=memaper' kernel parameter.

I'm having the same problem here, and reading the KI, I ask: do I have to recompile my whole kernel?
