Don't know if it is proper or not, but I came across it at other forums a few weeks ago.
I have been using 1401 for about the last two weeks. After going from a QX6700 (rock stable at 3.4Ghz on bios1301) to a QX6850 and not getting any better overclocks on bios1301, I bit the bullet and thought I would give it a try. I knew the risks, but was really dissapointed with the QX8650 not being able to perform better than the QX6700.
IMO it is no better than bios1305, which I think was a shocking bios. Could not get anywhere near what I could with bios1301.
As good as the striker extreme has been to me, I've now moved on. It is a good board if treated nicely, but ASUS has dropped the ball with bios releases lately.

Any idea if this is a solid, stable and reliable bios like 1301?
Or is it crappy like 1303 and 1305?

The description from the website
1. Enable better compatibility with Creative X-FI Sound Card
is the only change.
Tried this myself over 1305 and found it to be more stable & usable.
Pushed my Q6600 G0 CPU overclock to 1524 from 1500.
Memeory to 900Mhz from 800.
