Help,
Recently upgraded my BIOS to 1007 beta (for other reasons). Purchased Western Digital 1 terabyte SATA Hard Drive and attempted to install on SATA port 2 on motherboard (300 gig hard drive already installed as data drive only on SATA port 1). Machine now boot but gets hung up during boot process at the Sil logo. New Hard Drive name is recognized as drive "1" with the western digital volume name however cursor is blinking at the area that normally you would see the drive size.
Attempts to enter the raid configuration by hitting f4 will not work, machine is locked. Attempted different settings on the hard drive. The only setting that will allow the machine to complete the boot would be to set the hard drive speed to 150. Doing this, the machine will boot to windows (running XP with SP2). Once there, attempts to configure the hard drive either usign western digitals utility or disk manager inside windows are unsuccessful. The drive does not show at all.
I'm told by Asus tech support that this MB should be able to handle up to 2 terabyte hard drives.
HELP!!!!!!

update 102607. Have installed this different 1007 bios I received from tech support, which I was told had the Sil boot information on it. Once downloaded, I noted it does have a file name of "1007" not the "1007_002" file that I got from asus site. This earlier 1007 did do the trick. My 1 terabyte HD was then recognized without incident.
Thanks.

I could really do with this modified firmware too - my mobo hangs during boot when the Si3112 BIOS queries the Samsung 1TB HDD I've just added. Thanks, Jon. -- asus@than.org.uk

Hi Stephen, if you happen to check this thread again, can you forward me the bios that you have. I have contacted tech support that they don't seem to have a clue and refered me to the beta version, which is not working obviously.
my email is anhn27@yahoo.com.
thanks -anh
Update - got a response from Jon and he sent me the correct bios. If anyone needs this, please send me an email and I'll send you the bios 1007. Tech support can't seem to help ... at least in the States.

Do you still have BIOS 1007. I'm running into the same issues myself.
Email: sea_me@shaw.ca
Much appreciated.
