System:
- P5B Premium Vista Edition
- OS: Windows XP Pro
- Intel Core2 6600 2.4 Ghz
- 2 Gigs RAM
- Asus X1950 display adapter
- Boot HD: SATA2 200 Gigs on Intel Matrix
- Data HD: SATA2 320 Gigs x 2 - RAID 1 on Intel Matrix
- DVD: SATA on Intel Matrix

JMicron controller disabled in BIOS. Intel Matrix configured as RAID.

I have an issue that is turning into a real problem. When the computer is turned off and then restarted, it will reboot at the Windows Welcome screen (with the Cylon bar moving).
The sequence of events is always the same: the system starts up, JGOGO loads, the HD light comes on and after 10-20 seconds, the Windows slider bar freezes and the system restarts. I have attempted to change the BIOS settings for the JMicron controller every possible way and the result is always the same.

The behavior is the same in all modes, including Safe Mode. When booting in safe mode, the info screen shows that the last driver to load before the restart is JMicron's JGOGO.SYS.

The only solution I found is to let the computer reboot and reboot. At some point, after at least 20 reboots, the system finally gets over the Welcome screen and proceeds to the logon screen. This problem does not occur if I perform a warm restart (restarting without turning the power off). But it always happens if the power is turned off before restarting.

What is particularly puzzling in this situation is that I disabled the JMicron controller from the get go, before installing Windows XP. Nonetheless, the boot sequence does load a JMicron driver (the infamous JGOGO.SYS). Thinking that updating the driver may do the trick, I downloaded a more recent version of the driver and attempted to install it, only to be told by the install program that there was no JMicron controller in my system (sic). This seems to confirm that the controller is disabled, but still leaves me puzzled at to why the JGOGO.sys driver is being loaded.

I have googled the topic and found that many other people have experienced this problem, but I did not find a solution. Useless to say, I live with the fear that one of these days, the system will not get to the logon screen in spite of the serial reboots. For the time being, I simply do not turn my system off. I am a software developer in middle of a crunch and I really don't need this kind of aggravation, expecially coming from reputedly quality vendors like Asus. I pay premium prices for my hardware and I only wish that it would perform as expected.

Any comment/advice/help would be hugely appreciated - I will name my first child after you :-)

Had an issue similar to yours. My boot process stopped at crcdisk.sys...

Try the following things:
# Disable the onboard audio in BIOS
# Boot in safe mode - will take two attempts to get into Windows...
# Logon as Administrator
# Download the Jmicron driver from the ASUS page (V1.17.15.0) not the one from Jmicron or Windows Update!!!
# Disable your Virus Scanner
# Open the hardware manger and manually install the downloaded Jmicron driver
# Reboot and you’re fine - hopefully...

Never ever re enable the onboard audio device in BIOS and be careful to not install any Jmicron update from Windows Update! Both of this will lead back to the never ending reboot loop.

Hope this helps - for me it did fine...

that can't be a very good solution, since you now have to buy another sound card to hear anything....i don't have any other solution to offer at this time tho....so maybe Joschi's solution is best until someone comes up with something else?? does that make sense?? lol

I am now having the same issue with JGOGO.sys.  Did you ever find out how to fix it?  If so, I will name my next child after you!!!  My problem is with my secondary hard drive.  When I disconnect it, the system boots up fine (WINXP).  If I keep it connected, the system hangs up at the logo screen.  When I boot into safe mode, the last command that shows up is the JGOGO.  I need my secondary hard drive!  It's where I stored all my pictures and games.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

..I had same problem, and managed to solve it the simple way..
(if you are bored to read the description of process,
scroll to the bottom of the post

:)
DESCRIPTION:
-JGOGO.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
-Known file sizes on Windows XP are 6912 bytes (60% of all occurrence), 7680 bytes.
-The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs.
-The program has no visible window.
-The service has no detailed description.
-The file is NOT a Windows core file, but it IS a Microsoft signed file.
-It also seems to be a compressed file. Therefore the technical security rating is about 20 % dangerous..

..BUT.
Some malware  (not sure which) camouflage themselves as JGOGO.sys, particularly if they are located in c:\windows ,or c:\windows\system32 folder.

WHAT I DID ?:
..well you must (somehow) approach to the file manager (windows explorer, commander or even connecting hard drive to another machine)
.. i did it via regular SAFE MODE (F8 while booting..)
Just go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers (where jgogo.sys is located),
and simply rename it (i added underline "_
jgogo.sys" )
and windows will NOT load it in next boot session..

btw.. please don't name your daughter 'Vladimir'
:-p

Wow, thanks a lot Grbic!
Followed your advice, renamed jgogo.sys (I used volkov commander on the Hyren cd to view the files) and - problem solved.
Cheers mate! :)
