Apologies in advance as this may be a silly question..
I have recently purchased a wireless router for my notebook to gain access to my cable internet connection.
My "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless Network Connection" worked fine initially - lasting only a few days...
When i turned my laptop on yesterday the 'Wireless' icon in the toolbar had a red cross on it. (normally it would connect automatically after booting up)
When you hover above the icon it reads "Wireless is turned off".
If i double click the icon it tells me to simply 'select "wireless on" below to enable wireless connection'
there is no "wireless on" button below and i cannot find ANYWARE to turn it on..
Can somebody please help - i'm sure there is a simple enough answer for this..

I have searched FAQs and tried trouble shooting. i think my problem is so basic that it hasn't been listed anywhere.

Thank you.

Thank you,

Still did not turn the Wireless connection on.

I downloded:

Version V10.5.1.68 2006/10/27 update
Description Wireless Lan Driver and Application
Wireless Lan Driver and Application WinXP

Is this what i should have downloaded??

I insalled the utility but it did nothing.

i also tried Fn + F2 to no avail..

Thank you for your help although case is closed and my issue has resolved.

Note to anybody who has the same problem.. try uninstal the driver and simply reboot your machine.

I would strongly recommend against using the Asus wireless manager, it's rubbish!  Uninstall your wireless drivers and the management software, reboot and reinstall just the drivers for the wireless card and then let Windows manage the connection from there.

Fn+F2 will still turn your wirless card on and off and Windows will do a much better job of maintaining your connection.
