| despite all the problems with this board, i was going to order anyway ( was going to order 1st of FEB. ). I was hoping that bios updates would fix these issues by then. i went to newegg today, to read recent reviews and newegg no longer has it listed. called them and was told that due to customer issues, newegg would not be carring this item untill further improvments would be made..... what?. i feel sorry for you who spent $400 plus only to have these problems. can somebody please explain the differecne between 680i and 975 chipsets. what is the best chipset next to the 680i?. i need SLI and the possibilty to upgrade to Quadcore, what board is the next best option? i want to stay with Asus, cuase every other Asus board i have had worked great!!!!!. i need the next board with the highest FSB,RAM,ect.... options thanks for youre response.

Meh. I've been waiting for this board for over a month too. NewEgg's online support couldn't tell me anything, other than it "might have been discontinued", but "keep checking back". I just wonder who pulled the plug on it: NewEgg, ASUS, Award or Nvidia? Someone must know something?

Damn. I ordered a system with the Striker on the 27th December. Didn't got it yet. But if the chipset is that bad I'm wondering. Alienware, VoodooPC and the Falcon-NW are using this also.
I'm so confused lately about this mobo??? The thing is still on the Asus site. But maybe it's a good thing that newegg stops selling it. I don't know newegg but I'm hearing it a lot, so I guess it's big with you guys. So maybe it puts the pressure on it.

I guess 'customer issues' could mean a lot of things. Perhaps Asus just can't supply NewEgg with the boards that they promised and NewEgg is tired of people pissed off that they haven't received the board that they ordered yet.
I doubt that the Egg would refuse to sell something on reliability issues...lol...I mean they are still selling the reference 680i boards, and they have way more problems than the Striker from what I can tell in the EVGA forums.

Who says they don't carry it any more?
When I first read this thread an hour ago (Sunday evening west coast time) I checked Newegg and nothing came up for Striker Extreme. However, I just checked again and it comes up and is listed as in stock....

just now checked Newegg, and can't find the Striker listed anywhere. Froogle search no longer lists Newegg for the Striker either.

@ Texxx @ Vläd
You guy's have the Striker extreme. What is your opinion? Do you guy's have problems?
@Other
It's back on at newegg. Yesterday there was said discontinued but now I can choose it but it's out of stock. So I guess it's a problem with delivery.

| Kibosh-
I haven't had any problems with my Striker except for trying to get my pc8500 memory to run higher than 800Hz. The board is rated at 800, so that is fine with me.
I built this for my son for Christmas, and since then it has been running games 12 hours a day, rock solid, at 3.3GHz. He also hosted a Q3 lan party over the weekend and his comp was the listen server, and never bogged down...granted, Q3 isn't that much of a resource-intensive game.
However...
1) I don't use RAID...(some have had raid issues, although I believe this to be mostly a reference board issue)
2) I don't use SLI or or an x-Fi sound card ( many have had an issue with popping)
Why did I buy the Striker if I don't use these features? I was trying to future-proof my build. I hope to buy another 8800gtx later in the year when I upgrade to quad core... and get another sata drive.
Do I think its overpriced for the features? YES...but it is very unique and top-of-the-line looking. It was worth it to me.
I believe you can get similar performance from the $150 650i asus board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131142
It has sb and nb heat issues...solved with just making sure there is some air blowing over them.
Also you can get similar performance (some would say better) from the P5B-E or deluxe (965p) or the P5W DH Deluxe (975x).
Would I buy it again? Yes, but I wouldn't buy 2! Next will be the Commando, perhaps. http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-1037-view-ASUS-COMMANDO-p965-chipset.html

Hi
I don't see why the 8500c5 dosen't run at 1067 mhz in your striker board, mine runs just fine. I have one suggestion to make on Video cards; I started to get a GTX, but desided to get two (2) 8800 GTS just in case I get a video problem,I will have a spare to use till the other one is fixed. :).. Besides I don't think there will be that much diff in game play with Sli 8800gts's vers the GTX model what you think ?. CHEERS
