Bought three P5N32-E Sli mainboards for testing . What a lot of junk . After exhaustive testing , various ram , powersupplies , etc , only managed to get one going with Corsair XMS2 6400 ram , but forget any overclocking . The other two did not even want to install windows xp pro , during load , after 1st reboot .....black screen and nothing further .
Updated bios , made no difference . I cant believe Asus can release such a piece of junk . Definately not going to sell these boards in my shop . Asus get your act together and fix it !!!

The 680i chipset is very particular with memory. Its always best to check the memory manufacurer to see which modules have been tested with that motherboard.

I wouldn't blame ASUS for your situation...

I am blaming ASUS for this Poor motherboard .....because all the ram I used was QVL , namely Corsair XMS2 6400C4 , the C4PRO and Dominators . I did my research prior to purchasing the boards . The stupid boards dont even work properly at stock speed , forget overclocking . I have never experienced any such issues with the 965 and 975 chipset boards . Why dont you buy this board and see for yourself .......before defending Asus .

I have one.  It works just fine on Corsair 6400C4,thank you.
So far Ive overclocked my e6700 to 3Ghz with minor FSB corrections.
I think you just got some bad boards.
RMA them and try again before blaming ASUS.

Hi.

Sorry to hear about the frustrating problems. You are clearly a experienced user so I'm not sure my observations will be of much help but here they are for all who may be having similar problems.

I have this motherboard. It works fine with XMS2 and XMS2 C4 (6400). It booted up flawlessly first time with 2 BFG 8800 GTX, Bios 0405. I made sure that I had a 1 KW PSU to be on the safe side.

I have had no problems with the board but it has been a bit of an education working towards the present state of overclocking (E6700) to 2.93 GHz. I have it on manual overclocking right now, with default system clocks, FSB is unlinked and set to 1172 for FSB and 845 for FSB (QDR). FSB ratio is on Auto. I also found it useful to go with SLI Mem disabled for now. I have also found that enabling Linkboost with current configuration causes problems (freezing and the occasional BSD. I have used 3DMARK 2006 triangle subset as a troubleshooting tool since I've noticed that transtion problems in this subset have gone together with the frame freezing etc. I also noted an adverse effect of GPU Ex so I have that disabled. In the overclocked state, I have had problems getting the Corsair XMS2 C4 to run at 4-4-4-12-2T so I have it stable at 5-5-5-18-2T. This set up gives me a stable set up with a 3DMark 2006 of >12900, so I'm quite happy. I'll be doing some further stepwise testing.

H

I've been reading... it seems there are some bad boards being sent out. I would post the links but I didn't save them.

So better luck after you RMA them! If you go the advanced shipment route you should have them sooner than later!

Right now, 680i users are, for the most part, having terrible sata corruption errors. There was probably nothing wrong with those components you replaced.

Evga released a test beta bios to owners of its boards. We, alas, have not gotten even a confirmation of any problems.
