Hi everybody !

I have a big problem with the Geforce 7600 graphic card included in my new Asus A6T laptop.

If I try to launch a 3D application, it immediately crash the system, displaying diagonal white and blue lines. We cannot do anything after that (maybe a kernel panic)

My configuration is :
Asus A6T AP014H
Ubuntu Edgy Eft
Kernel 2.6.17-7-generic

Tested with :
Nvidia restricted modules of Ubuntu 8774
and
Nvidia installer 8774

The white screen of the death also appear when trying to display webcam video (from Kopete), however this webcam is not recognized on Linux (very strange !)

It also sometimes work the first time you install the nvidia driver, but after one reboot, it freezes and crash the computer everytime.

Hope you will be able to do something.

Cheers.

I know what you mean, I had the same problems with the 8762 driver but it seems more stable with the 8774 release.  I can run 3d programs like glxgears or tuxracer and they run happily.  I still see the corrupted screen after it has run for a while though.  It's weird.  Can someone post up their xorg.0.log.old after a crash and see what it says?

Moin!
This problem occurs on my machine (A6T), too.

Gentoo Linux  2.6.15
Xorg 6.9
Nvidia driver 87.62

Could the Xorg-version be the reason of the crashes?

I had the same problem and can confirm that the new beta driver fixes the issue. It's included in Gentoo Portage and if you wan't it preinstalled you can try Sabayonlinux.
