Hi Everyone!

Long Story Short...

I had an issue when i installed my GeForce 480GTX on my Asus M4A87TD Motherboard...
it deactivated my Onboard sound and i was unable to find a solution to fix it except buy a new
PCI sound card... SO to be sure it would be good i decided to go with an Asus card, the Xonar DG 5.1 PCI...
but it seem like it doesn't work for some reason.... Win7 identify it has Multimedia Audio Controller
and can't seem to find any compatible driver... tried different tricks to make it work... remove all
previous drivers reboot, reinstall... but can't seem to find the problem... Any help would be appreciated!!

Here's my System Config, if it could help you help me!!
Thanks a lot in advance!!

To fix what?

Win7 identify it has Multimedia Audio Controller
and can't seem to find any compatible driver...

I guess you did try pointing it to the driver CD?
If yes, this might be this problem: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Xonar_EEPROM_Failure

I just checked the EEPROM as you suggested and what i found in Control Panel seem ok from what the chart says on the link you gave me...

PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_85211043&REV_00 : OK (Xonar DG)

So doesn't seem to be an Overwritten Prod ID but thanks for the infos!

Still trying to find a solution...

cladisch, you were right, and i misread the HardwareID so yes, it was an EEPROM problem and now it's solved!!

I simply had to download and burn the supplied ISO and Boot from CD the restore the good Hardware ID... after that, Win7 and the Installation CD did the rest and i have sound again!!

So thanks a lot cladisch for the tip!!
