Just installed Windows 8 from scratch, before the card was working fine in Windows 7.
But Windows 8 does not recognize it. And the latest (beta) driver for Windows 8 does not either. It tells me to plug in the audio card (or something like that). In device manager I see 2 unknown Audio Devices: 1) Multimedia Audio Controller: hardware id : PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82698269&REV_00 2) Multimedia Controler hardware id: PCI\VEN_1745&DEV_3000&SUBSYS_D1800070&REV_00
I checked the beta and indeed it does not seek for those id's. I found topics on the internet that somehow the ID could be modified by the BIOS, but I don't believe that could be the case, it was working fine yesterday in Windows 7.
I tried the UNI drivers as well, same problem (No audio card...)
What could be the problem?

That's a clear case of the overwritten EEPROM problem.
2) Multimedia Controler hardware id: PCI\VEN_1745&DEV_3000&SUBSYS_D1800070&REV_00

This is some ViXS chip, probably on some video transcoding card, and completely unrelated.

The ID problem typically happens after some OS installation.
