I want to install windows 64 on my computer because I have a disk and can use the same key that came with the 1201n. The problem is I dont have an external dvd drive.

Is there anyway to install windows 64 via usb. If so please provide instructions.

I have a question, and hopefully someone can answer it, I know the key will work for both 32bit and 64bit, but will this preinstalled win7 home premium version key (1201N version) work for retail version or oem.

or if I can obtain a win 7 home premium 64 bit recovery disk from asus (for different model as 1201N doesn't have one), I think it will work, what do you think, obtaining this disk shouldn't be a problem, as I know a few ppl who works for asus.

class="postmsg">

So I think I am going to bite the bullet and install win7 64 bit today, do you guys recommend putting 64bit on the 1201n. Can it handle it, will it effect performance on the 1201n for the better.

Do I need to install on the drivers after I install win7 64 bit or will they still be there on the netbook.

On more thing, if I install the win7 64 bit will I lose the F9 option to recovery back to win7 32 bit if something goes wrong during the install or later on if I dont want 64bit on my computer anymore.

like I said in another forum, if you leave the partition along and just install the os in c drive, the recovery function should still work, all the drivers will need to be reinstalled.

to put win 7 in a usb follow the info in the link below or download the tool below

yup, I am following your tool instructions.  Thanks again.

I installed win7 64bit succesfully but need help with these things.

Need Help with 3 Things:

1) How do I get the asus docking item back. I dont see it on the download page or maybe it is called something else.

2) What is the default utility for the webcam. How do I download it.

3) PROBLEM: I cant install kbfilter utility (I believe this is for FN functions), do I need to do something else first.

I went to the directory and some of the ones I need are listed more than once.  Which ones do I choose.  The ones with higher number? latest date?

For example Live Update:  which one

     10:56:00 AM

 File:LiveUpdate-1_19.zip

 File:LiveUpdate-1_19_XP.zip
     16649 KB

Same with Hot Key (FN): which one
Hotkey-1_11_01.zip

 File:HotkeyService-1_15.zip

Update:
HotKey download worked great, thanks.

Can you help me with LiveUpdate.  I cant find one for win7 64bit.  Every other one I try I get some Kernel error message or something like that.

Also is there a webcam driver or what is the default webcam program.  ECAM? LivCam? YouCam?

there is no webcam driver, the driver is built into the os, if you cannot detect it, try going into the bios (turn on the pc and keep tapping F2) and enable the camera, it could be disable in the bios.

as for the live update , have you tried the 1.03 or 1.19 version for the 1021N or try the other drivers from other eee pc models, they should all be the same or try this one, it's for the eeepc N10JH (atom N280+Nvidia 9300 Chipset).
