I am running Moblin v2.1 on my Asus Eee 1005HA.  It has the known issue of intermittent wifi internet connectivity for the Atheros AR9285 WLAN adapter.

Does anyone know how I upgrade the driver of my AR9285 to fix this problem?  It is quite annoying.  The wifi works great in W7 and WXP, but when installing Moblin it becomes intermittent, so I know it's a driver issue and not a hardware issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are still waiting for the answer, here it is: Moblin 2.1 uses a linux kernel in which this wifi card just doesn't work right, it's the same problem in my 1000HE. All I could find about it before was on the ubuntu forums. Simply waiting for Moblin 2.2 (while hoping that will use the newer kernel version in which this problem should be resolved) seems to be the only solution, however, if you might know another solution I'd ofcourse like to hear it.

2 Temporary Fixes:

All Atheros Intermittent / Disconnect / Moblin / (old) Kernel issues,

1. Add a script to startup (boot) that pings the gateway (router).
Example:

#!/bin/bash
ping 192.168.1.1
exit 0

Why It Works: So long as a constant, active connection is made in the background, the card will accept stable incoming and outgoing connections.

2. Add a script to startup (boot) that turns off the card's power management.
Example:

#!/bin/bash
iwconfig wlan0 power off
exit 0

Why It Works: The power fluctuation is apparently causing the problem. Turning off power management will reduce functionality but eliminate the problem.

EDIT: Don't wait for "Moblin 2.2", look for MeeGo instead. Same diff ;)

Just a few questions.  Which file do u enter the script in Win7?  For the ping address, is it the address of my wireless router?  Thanks
