One problem I have is,
eventhough I now see the folder there, the Chinese unicode character folders inside are all displayed as ???????,
these folders all displayed fine if I access them from the long way "My Shortcuts"
Any solution?

You seem to have different locale settings on your NAS (or the computer providing the share) than on the O!Play, and NFS doesn't do any conversion.
I'd ensure unicode characters on your NAS are encoded with UTF-8...

Hi thanks for your response Eric, I am using WHS if that matters, I already changed to Chiense in the Regional setting, but OPlay still display ???????? characters.

WHS seems to be MS Windows Home Server, right?

I don't know anything about WHS, but  I don't think simply changing the computer Regional Settings will affect your NFS server character encoding...

From what I can read on the net, WHS relies on Microsoft's SFU "Unix Services for Unix" for providing an NFS server, right?

http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2009/12/11/guide-setting-up-nfs-in-whs/

When I digged deeper into this, I've read many times that SFU's NFS Server doesn't support UTF-8 encoding. For example here:
http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php/topic/13806-streaming-problems/page__view__findpost__p__88640
or here:
http://www.slatedroid.com/showthread.php?t=8087&s=fdc102010e904ffd690994e452ce8a01&p=69922&viewfull=1#post69922

In MS feature list for SFU 3.5 (page 4), they say there are some improvements regarding internationalization and some multi-byte charsets such as big5, but still no UTF-8...
http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/d/8/6d8210f1-49b9-457e-816b-860242f2d5ef/sfu35new.doc

OTOH, another page that describes SFU services tells about a translation file (look for "nfsadmin" and "translationfile" on following page:
http://www.softpanorama.org/Unixification/SFU/sfu_nfs_implementation.shtml

However, I don't know if and how this works, and how multi-bytes characters would translate...

So, the solutions I see are:
1) try fiddling with nfsadmin and this translation file
2) install another NFS server with UTF-8 support on your WHS computer
3) or rename your Chinese filenames with plain ASCII names

Eric

Hi all,

since the latest HDP-R3 firmware for the Oplay Air, this functionality is not working anymore.

It seems, the mount is just not been executed.

Am I the only one facing this issue, or is it also broken with the latest firmware on your Oplay R1 / R3?

Thanks
Andi

Hi,

You should (re)read the 2 or 3 last pages of this thread. The explanation is there...

Ok pretty old topic, but I'll try. I was able to automount a share on my windows-pc. I can see the mount in telnet and access it. However, I can't see it on the GUI on my television. I made the mount in /tmp/ramfs/volumes/movies, which is correct afaik. Anyone knows why it isn't showing up?
