Hi friends

Recently I bought a WD 3TB Green hard disk. I connected to my computer and formated with one only partition. Everything was fine, I copied some movies without problems.

The problem arrives when I plug the 3TB into the Sharkoon external bay connected to the O!Play throught e-sata. The system says 'device not supported'. All other HD (500GB, 1TB & 2TB) works flawless, but 3TB is not supported :-(

Will be there any firmware to support this new high capacity drives?

Thank in advance

The same problem
I've a O!Play HDP R1 with last oficial firmware (1.41P) and it says 'Device not supported'.
With Amp R8, the hard disk is not displayed.

WD hard drives can be a problem, even on PC. Try turning the media player on and then plug the hard drive in and turn it on. Should work. Problem occurs when the hard drive is powered when turning the Asus on. WD is the only one that does this. (Just a side note; windows xp will not recognize any hard drive larger than 2.2 TB. Windows 7 has no problems with the larger capacity drives.)

Is not a problem about the order turning on the devices, is a problem with filesystem GPT of 3TB+ hard drives.
I've several WD hard drives and all of them work perfect.

A new firmware supporting GPT is needed!!

I connected my Sharkoon to laptop by USB and worked perfect.

Do you have the 3TB hard disk partitioned? I've just one partition.

I have just one partition, but it is plugged to HDP-R1 using USB. Have you tried plugin it with the USB port to the HDP-R1. P.S. sry for answering so late.

Conected to HDP-R1 using SATA and USB, but same problem (Devide not detected).
Sharkoon says on its site, that for HD =<2TB, use USB, and =>3TB, use SATA.

But I connected throught USB to my laptop and It worked perfect. I don't understand :-(
