Today I put the router into rescue mode but encountered this problem: The router's PW LED is automatically blinking when I turn it on and the ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility firmware doesn't detect that the router is in rescue mode.

After googling for 4-5 hours I've tried the following solutions which all didn't work:

- 30/30/30 Hard Reset
- default method of putting the router into Rescue Mode
- holding WPS button for 30 seconds & turn on the router while holding it for another 30 second then release and wait another 30 seconds.

I'm holding on the Warranty atm hoping that someone out there has the answer!

this is what the manual says:

To launch the rescue mode and use the Firmware
Restoration utility:
1.     Unplug the wireless router from the power source.
2.     Hold the Reset button at the rear panel and simultaneously
re-plug the wireless router into the power source. Release the
Reset button when the Power LED at the front panel flashes
slowly, which indicates that the wireless router is in the rescue
mode.
3.     Use the following to set up your TCP/IP settings:
     IP address: 192.168.1.x
     Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
4.     From your computer’s desktop, click
Start > All Programs > ASUS Utility RT-N66U Wireless
Router > Firmware Restoration.

Hope this helps.

good luck!

Thx for the respond wiz. Unfortunately, I've already tried that, and no matter what the ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility doesn't detect the router to be in rescue mode :(
