I have the same problem, my internet provider is shaw.ca, and they provide dynamic ip address.
The software will not obtain settings automatically, I have linksys and a trendnet routers that do this routinely.
I really like the Asus features, ftp, print server etc.
but...
If there's no solution, it goes back to the store.

I found sometimes AP may get IP from cable modem not ISP, just turn off and on cable modem to fix this problem.

There is no option on the "wan port of the router" that is 10duplex connectivity that I can change.
I have unplug the cable modem numerous times but it never work. I had unplug both and it never succeed either. Something is wrong with the router.

I have had this Router for 10 days now and can say, performance is inconsistent. The router took so many trials and errors to establish connection to a simple Rogers cable modem. My old DLink DI-610+ Router had no problems, while this one just kept complaining there is some problem obtaining the IP Address.
In one instance, I simply unmounted a USB Flash drive connected to it and then plugged in an external Hard disk and it lost connection to the cable modem. After several power cycles of the modem and the router, it established connection. No explanation for how it did it.
The WPS option on the Admin UI and on the router itself, never did anything for me.

| I had same problem of obtaining IP from cablemodem. It works with Open System of authentificate method but not WPA-personal. I have been using Linksys router for many years without any problem. I purchased this RT-N13U for its USB ext HDD and FTP features. Whenver setting to WPA-personal, it disconnected from Internet (disconnected from cablemodem). I had to push reset button on bottom of unit to set it back to Open System. E-mailed to tech support and got anwser of swapping with seller.
