I've been using my current Haswell i7-4770K since June 2013 when I installed a clean copy of Windows 8 Pro 64-bit on it. It has been working fine with no major issues at all and I've been very pleased with it.

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit a few weeks ago from the RTM build and subsequently installed three Windows Updates on 17th October to bring it up to the final release version. Since then I've seen event log entries for every time I boot into Windows for a DipAwayMode.exe crash and I've no idea why it happens or how to resolve it as I have the latest version of AI Suite 3 installed, v1.0.0.56, and it was installed using Run as Administrator. The AI Suite 3 software appears to work fine in Windows as I can access it from the system tray icon and each of the different modules for DIP4, Fans, etc, seem to work fine. I even see the little Airplane icon that slides in then back out on the right hand side immediately above the system tray clock/date. So if the software is working then what is this DipAwayMode.exe crash?

The Event log is:

Faulting application name: DipAwayMode.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.16408, time stamp: 0x523d4548
Exception code: 0x40010006
Fault offset: 0x00012eec
Faulting process ID: 0x13a0
Faulting application start time: 0x01cecfc3487345e0
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AI Suite III\DIP4\DIPAwayMode\DipAwayMode.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KERNELBASE.dll
Report ID: 8767295e-3bb6-11e3-8030-6c71d9497605

Faulting package-relative application ID:

Now I did originally have this error when I first installed Windows 8 Pro on my current build but it was seemingly fixed in a later update of AI Suite 3. Now it is back since upgrading to AI Suite 3.

I've tried reinstalling AI Suite 3 and the DipAwayMode.exe is even set to Run as Admin but it always crashes on booting into Windows. On occasions this causes Explorer.exe or the display driver to crash, not fatally but enough to delay the desktop appearing by up to 10 minutes (yes, you read that right, 10 minutes!). I'm booting from a 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD and have no problems running games or applications otherwise.
