I'm using the P9X79 Pro with bios 2104, (I had other different problems with earlier versions, ie I had to boot twice to get it to see the boot raid array) The problem I have now is that it hangs for about 1 minute and 40 seconds on q-code 99, then it finish's booting. I have tried booting with now drives attached, no USB devices as well, re-setting the bios to defaults, turning off all the drive controllers, turning off USB 3 ports, turning on/off fast boot. Any other ideas of what might be causing this?

Hi Mike..

Does your particular case have any front panel USB/audio/card reader/etc wiring connected to the mainboard...?

Yes it does, I'll try disconnecting it and see what happens... Yep, that was it I disabled it first and it didn't hang, then I enabled it and set it to the AC97 (not the default HD) and viola! Much better! Thank you : ) Last edit...Well I noticed I had turned off bluetooth as well as changing the audio, and now that I turn on bluetooth I get the hang on q-code 99 agian. But it's fine as I don't use the bluetooth part of it anyway. I just wanted to make note that the audio was fine but bluetooth was the ""problem child" so to speak. Thank you for the help.

Hi Mike..

Thankyou for following up...  but apparently there is still some BIOS issue that is causing a problem..  You are OK now but I'd write to Asus and describe the problem as they 'may' be able to sort it out....

In some system cases, issues with the front panel wiring and ports causes data crosstalk and data wiring shorts that can lead to this sort of problem.

Interesting, recently I updated to 2104 and I just RMAd my P9X79 Pro as the jumper for the power switch was no longer working. Onboard power switch was working and the board seemed fine otherwise. The guys in the shop where I bought it accused me of soldering the power switch pins as they said it looked burnt around there. WTF! Who would solder a motherboard power pins, lol. It has been sent to ASUS now, I hope they honour the warranty...
