I saw the new BIOS version 1406 for my P8Z77-V Pro. I downloaded the .zip and extracted it to my FAT USB drive. I went into my BIOS (currently version 1015). I go to EZ Flash 2 and select my USB drive. It asks me to read the .cap file and I press yes. But then an error pops up saying the file isn't an EFI BIOS.

Hi Jorge,

Yes, that's what happens. The download file is corrupt. The decompressed size is 6 032 KB instead of 8 194 KB. We'll see if ASUS will fix it tomorrow.

You are welcome. I called the escalation dept. and they emailed it to me. Their Tech Support is pretty much worthless.

I was able to download the latest BIOS 1406 from the links provided. I did verify the decompressed file was 8,194KB in size and still kept getting the "Not EFI BIOS". I was attempting to do this while on version 1206. I was able to get it upgraded however using the AI Suite II - Asus Update (selecting local file). It even reported the correct stats on the right hand pane of the utility. I'm guessing it wasn't corrupted after all???

In any event, I'm placing the MD5 and SHA1 below for the uncompressed CAP file. If my file is in fact corrupted, please let me know so that I may reflash my BIOS. So far however, everything has been working without trouble.

MD5 = 1F4D9FA278A045087D1B3362BF27E250
SHA-1 = ACF0A9813BA943D5DCB95515465D268ED809A302

John, were you using a NTFS or FAT32 pen drive when updating BIOS from EZ Flash2? EZ Flash 2 cannot support NTFS, and will give you the same error if the partition format is not correct.
