When I boot up my computer, I get that message before Windows starts -
Adapter 1
No hard disk is detected!

I did a generic search for this on the internet and came up with a few fixes for other people but their bios' were setup differently and I can't find anything in mine.  It did this with the 0106 bios and still does it with 0209.

SATA1 is my optical drive
SATA2 is the hdd in my sig.

The HDD is fine and boots into windows with no problems, it's just this message that comes up.  Any help on what I need to change in the bios?

This message is related to the external Sata devices( a.k.a. Esata). Because you don't have an external sata driver plugged in to system you get this message.. To disable it (as long as your not using esata) in bios go-to Advance -> Onboard Devices Config -> and set Marvel Storage Controller to Disabled

There's also a handy setting that prevents the controller BIOS screens (Intel Matrix RAID, Marvel Controller) from displaying during POST.    This is nice if you don't need to change anything, and have no desire to see that status each boot:

Boot - Addon ROM Display Mode - "Keep Current"

With "keep current" set, the only POST display you'll see is the default blue ASUS graphic (or your customized boot graphic if you use MyLogo 2).

awesome.  thanks for the help.  I'll do both those things when I get home, but I'm sure it'll work out fine.

now that I think about it, isn't there some other setting for the pcie slots - I vaguely recall reading somewhere that there is something in the bios to disable the 2nd and 3rd slot if you're not using them; when I was looking through the bios last night, I just remember seeing you being able to set the 2nd/3rd slot as x16/x1 or x8/x8, not anything relating to disabling them.

yeah, I know some evga boards have a jumper to disable the slot(s), but nothing in the bios.  Maybe I'm not remembering this correctly for this MB though - god knows I seriously reviewed 3 or 4 boards before getting the p6td so I could just be mixing them up.

I have to say though, I haven't had any problems with this board after turning it on for the first time last night - we'll see what happens when I get to oc'ing it this weekend or next once I get everything else up and running.

There are a few minor features missing from this Mobo but overall the P6TD Deluxe is a really good board. You have made a good choice.. Happy clocking dude..!
