Hello,

I can not get the eSATA port to recognize my eSATA hard drive. I have a Western Digital My Book external hard drive. It works fine on the USB or Firewire connection but is not recognized by the system using the eSATA cable. I have tried two separate cables to make sure it wasn't the cable. I have the Marvell drivers enabled in the BIOS and recently tried the new BIOS upgrade to version 1102. I also tried the HOTSWAP program descibed in another thread. Nothing seems to work. What other steps should I pursue to get the drive to work??? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Leif

Same things here: WD MyBook Home 1TB and Bios 1605.
When connected with eSata sometimes it is recognized during bootup, but in the OS there is no drive...

Maybe I will try bios beta 1606 later these days. That should solve some e-Sataproblems...

When I go to Device Manager I see:
- in the chapter IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers: ATA channel 1 to 4, Intel (R) ICH10 Family port Serial ATA Storage Controller 1 and 2;
- in the chapter Harddisk controllers (I translated this from Dutch which says Opslagcontrollers): Marvell 61xx RAID controller;
- in the chapter Harddiskstations: here I see my harddisk with "ATA device" behind each drive.

That is what I have to see??
Or should there be more?

Today I tried bios 1606 beta, but still no eSata-drive. What is strange: on bootup I see the MyBook home during post, what says "MyBook SATA II". But in XP64 no drive and Win7 hangs while booting. Had to fix the bootdrive to get back into Win7....

I see that this thread was started a while back but, I feel it needs to be said-clear-plain, and straight; the eSata functionality on my P6T Deluxe is currently a FAILURE! I'm using Vista x64 and a "WD MyBook". It can be connected with Firewire, USB and eSata - Guess which format gives the fastest throughput?! - Then - Guess which format doesn't work reliably on my P6T Deluxe?!

Bios 1606 needs to be fixed!! Asus, please address this issue! Doing a complete system backup to an external drive, is a whole lot less painful when done via eSata!

Thank you in advance.

Today I spend $200+ on an eSATA external drive to take advantage of the extra speed and just found out that it doesn't work. Asus is a real disappointment…
