When I boot up my system, the found new hardware wizard pops up. I close that out and open my device manager. There is a yellow splash for Other devices-Ethernet Controller. I check the properties and I find this "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." Sometimes it says (Code 1). Any leads on how to fix this? Thanks.

| This is telling you that the driver is not installed and the first think I would try is to put the driver disk that came with the motherboard in you DVD and auto run it. Make sure that you have installed the chipset drivers and any drivers that may refer to network or ethernet. Which operating system are you using? Is this windows, linux, ?

My driver disk for the board is in another town right now. Which chipset drivers do you mean? There were no updates that I saw on the downloads page that specifically referred to the ethernet connections (Unless they are included in the BIOS updates). My OS is WinXP sp3.

| When you go to the Asus site, use the selector and put in motherboard for the first item, socket 775 for the second item and P5RD2-VM or P5RD2-VM ver.2 (which ever you actually have). It then asks you for the OS that you use (unless you have popup blocked). If you put in widows xp, you will see 2 lan drivers. the newer one is the latest for the realtek network card you have. If you choose a different os or don't chose one, you will not see those drivers.

I have P5RD2-VM ver.1
I downloaded the lan drivers and failed to install them. I ran the install program from the file and selected modify but there was no change. I ran it again and selected repair, still no change. I also tried to find the proper drivers using the wizard, but there is still no change. Is there a way I can order another disc for the motherboard from ASUS? If not, I'll have to call the company that built my system and ask them if they have a disc they can mail to me.
If it matters, the location is PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 3, device 17, function 0). Is there any other information I can give y'all or any ideas how to help me?

| Is there an actuall PCI card in on of the slots on you motherboard or are we talking about the built in one off the back of the motherboard? The drivers that you are downloading are for the built in network card that would appear along the edge of the motherboard. If someone put in a 3rd party network card than we need to look at the chipset on that card and get the driver for it.
