Currently I'm running XP Home edition and I want to install Windows 7 64 bit. Do I have to install all the drivers that are available on the internet or only the ones I need?
Since I don't use the onboard sound, wifi or ExpressGate I would only install these drivers:

- Chipset:     Intel_Chipset_V9111019_XPVistaWin7
- LAN:        MarvellYukon_Ethernet_V111053_Windows7
- Others:      JMB363_Controller_V117494_XPVistaWin7    (what is this?)
- SATA:      IMSM_V8901023
- Utilities:     MB_WIN7_ATK    (what is this?)

I only want to install the drivers that are necessary for my motherboard, so please tell me if I don't need some and explain the ones where I ask "what is this?".
Last question: the USB 2.0 driver isn't available online for W7 64 bit. Is that bad?

Hi M...

If you haven't already, download this application to your desktop and run it...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

You are likely to find that Windows 7 will have just about all the driver software you need ...

The Windows7 update service may find driver software that the OS does not include  and then, if you are still having an issue, the Asus driver would be the one to install...

I've installed upgrade advisor and it tells me that the following devices from I think the motherboard  need to be updated:

- ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY (I guess this will be MB_WIN7_ATK?)
- Marvell Miniport Driver                   (I guess this will be
MarvellYukon_Ethernet_V111053_Windows7?)

For the rest, everything is compatible (Serial ATA Controller 1 and 2, USB and USB2 Universal Host Controllers, JMicron JMB36X Controller, Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC)

My question is what is the difference between the Marvell Miniport Driver and the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller? The driver needs to be updated but the Ethernet Controller is compatible?

Hi M..

I believe they are the same...

http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverSearchResults.do;jsessionid=5hPZLtlW9HfH5Kv0B2Nf0dnLHTNG4S3Y1h5K2kpL20k2Yqf6BCRb!-524662256

On the system I am now using with WindowsXP, this is the driver package information.  The board also uses a Marvell Yukon ehternet controller.

Supporting: Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller

This package contains the following software components:

- NDIS5 Miniport Driver version 10.66.4.3 for Windows 2000
- NDIS5.1 Miniport Driver version 10.66.4.3 for Windows XP/Server 2003 (32 bit)
- NDIS5.1 Miniport Driver version 10.66.4.3 for Windows XP/Server 2003 (64 bit)
- NDIS6 Miniport Driver version 10.66.4.3 for Windows Vista/Server 2008 (32 bit)
- NDIS6 Miniport Driver version 10.66.4.3 for Windows Vista/Server 2008 (64 bit)

The ATK0110 virtual device driver will install automatically with the Asus Probe hardware monitoring application designed for Windows7...  You may be able to find a vompatible version here...

Thanks for the link. I visited the European site and there were only 35 downloads, the US site has 89 downloads.
There is a seperate ATK0110 driver available for download. Is it ok that I only download that one instead of the whole Probe II package? I don't have Probe II installed at the moment, so I don't know how the ATK0110 got on my pc an other way.
