Hi,

I have a question about Memory and my P5B-E. I have 4 RAM Card 1 Gb, but my system detects only 3 Gb. Why this? (I'm sure that all the cards works well).

Thank you in advance.

Only 64 bit operating systems will recognize anything over 3ishsomething gigs. If you want to use more you need to upgrade to a 64 bit OS.

I installed 4x 1gb of kingston CL4.0 pc6400 ram today.
I know some operating systems have trouble with a certain amount of memory, but in the bios it already says there are only 3 gb installed... Am i missing someting, i thought this board supported up to 8 gb?

64-bit OS support 8GB of memory.

32-bit OS support 4GB of memory.  But what will be used will be less.  The video memory and dedicated memory applications for other Hardware will be subtracted from the 4GB.

HI

I have same problrm with 4 x 1G of DDR2 667 Ram, I see 3G in BIO and Window.
While I put 1G Ram one after one, it correctly shows till 3 x 1 Gb but not 4G, it is the same even I updated with latest BIO.

Deighvyd's post regarding the MSDN post only tells part of the story. The ASUS motherboards will not recognize over 3 GB of memory no matter what unless memorry remapping is enabled. This is a bit odd, as the Intel specs state that memory remapping only needs to be enabled for over 4 GB of memory. However, let's say that the P5B-E did allow you to enable all 4 GB of memory. In a 32-bit operating system, you should expect to see less than 4 GB of memory because of other devices (see the MSDN post). Unfortunately, on the P5B-E, if you enable memory remapping, Vista will only detect 2 GB of memory--the other 2 GB are mapped above 4 GB.

In short, you cannot use more than 3 GB of memory in 32-bit Vista due to the nature of the P5B-E motherboard. If you want more than 3 GB of memory in 32-bit Vista, switch to a different motherboard from a different vendor. Keep in mind that you will never see all 4 GB of memory in 32-bit Vista. If you want 4 GB of memory or more, you need 64-bit Vista.
