My PC was working perfectly, until yesterday it no longer boots up. I get the ROG splash screen, then it displays "Marvell 88se61xx Adapter BIOS Versioin 1.1.0.L704 initializing". It then remains on this sc reen, until I carry out a forced power down.I have heard that this can be due to IDE,SATA devices hangiing of the Marvell adapter. Does anyone have any advice?

PC Spec:
MOBO:Maximus II Formula
CPU:Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz
VGA: Gainward GTX280 1GB DDR3
RAM: 4GB Corsair DDR2 PC-8500

Hi Mackenzie,

Have you added any device or program new? Like mobo has two bios, try to boot from bios 2 and see if pc runs. With the jumper located at bottom you can do this. Read the manual for more details. If you can start from one of them, you will can make a bios flashback to restore the corrupted bios.
Or you can start your pc with your system hdd only, without any drive connected (cd, dvd, other hdd) to see if runs. If runs ok, try to add one drive and restart. This way until any of your device make your pc don't run. Maybe a broken device don't let your pc start.

Hope this help you.

Hi Anton thanks for the post, I'll try to boot from BIOS 2,as I'm running off    BIOS 1 currently. I have 2 internal DVD-RW units one is SATA and the other is IDE. When I disconnected the IDE unit, I was able to go into the BIOS,and point it to my O/S HDD. After which my PC could boot up sucessfully. I flashed my BIOS to the latest version (2104), and powered down my PC and reconnected my IDE unit, after which the PC hung on the 88se61xx adapter initializing message. So looks like my IDE drive has an issue with Marvell storage. I'll let you know I get on when running of BIOS 2. Cheers for the advice.

Hi again,

Maybe disabling "IDE/eSata Boot ROM" on Advanced Menu at bios, you could bypass the detection progress of Marvell controler.

Keep us informed, please.
