Wondering if the M2N-E would be capable of using an  AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban... ? Its a 6 core, which I've already ordered. I've had my computer (Kermit, I call it) for ages, and I was wondering if it could use this chip without updating my mobo ? I have the latest bios update (Man, that was a scary experience... :P)

If not, I'll probably get a new main board, but maybe not an Asus. This one has served me well, but the customer support is kind of thin.

Cheers !

Quip,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to say that M2N-E does not support 6 core CPUs. You will be impressed with your new motherboard. If you wish, at login, go to edit my profile (top left),click on signiture, type in your system set up and it will always show in blue on bottom of your post( this will help you and others to get more accurate info). Updated. Decided to go with the ASUS M4A89GTD PRO... Ordered from NCIX, should be here tomorrow, but I have to wait till Monday, doh !

Thanks for the reply... What a bummer... I like this M2N-E, it's served me well XD. Will upgrading to a newer board improve the overall performance ? I do a lot of 3D art, just wondering if the board has any effect on that.

Cheers !

Sometime i want to imagine try to put in the AMD Phenom Gen.2 X6 1055T with 95w TDP version with the CPU part no. HDT55TWFK6DGR to my Asus M2N-E mainboard.

If can't bootup then migrade it to a new platform with DDR3 support and some another new upgrades.

Well is time to change it then. From Quad-Core Computing to Hex-Core Powerhouse Computing!
