I returned my W90VP and waiting for new one or replacement to arrive, so I didn't test any of these "hacks" but I am posting them so you can test those and hopefully get a problem fixed before (if) new drivers arrive.

If drivers tell you that one graphics card is disabled then you can see what happens when option in BIOS is changed. I'm talking about setting in BIOS that determines how graphics system will be detected: as two separate cards or just one.

Problem with my ASUS W90VP was that CrossFire cable was disconnected from second card so i could never reach 15000 3DMark point - just 10000.

I think asus should really take a close look at this :p

I see deja vu in a couple of weeks

Hey X how did you send your laptop back ? In the original packing ?
I can't find nothing from fed-ex that will fit this monster :)
There laptop boxes are 17x13 and there 30 bucks.

And have you gotten it back yet?

I took it personally back at retail shop that I've got it from. I'm prepared to wait few more weeks because I really liked the W90VP.

Basically ASUS W90VP is on the edge of laptop (notebook) development and as such we should all be prepared to have some issues. Drivers do work but not as desktop counterparts do. Some games have problems some don't.

I just ran the 3DMark test on my W90VP and my graphics score was 9898 - how did you know your Crossfire cable was not connected between cards? Can the cable be connected by us or does it need to go in the shop? While the test was running there was a lot of stuttering/jumping.

For Windows Vista
Right click open ATI property look at one of the video cards drivers property scroll down till you see secondary video card it should say linked if not then your drivers are not set up right or the video card cables are not linked.

Windows 7 the secondary card is always going to be disabled.

I would explain it better but my laptop is in the shop : /

If you experience any problems during 3DMark, then something is not installed correctly. I used official drivers from ASUS site and after some tweaking managed to get score slightly above 10000 marks.

One of the most important settings is power profile. Forgot how it was named but there is maximum performance profile, or something like that, that needs to be used during benchmarking session.

I have never managed to get 15000 marks so I guessed that something was not right. Went to BIOS changed option that graphics card should be recognized as one card or two separate cards and the results were always the same. Then I opened the notebook (actually not that difficult but wont describe that procedure because you can lose warranty) and found out that crossfire cable was disconnected from one graphics card. Don't know if that cable needs to be connected or not, but I took notebook to a retail shop where I bought it and they sent it to a certified repair shop. Waiting for notebook to be returned or something else.

I described here how both graphics cards look like:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090405105857581&board_id=3&model=W90VP&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

For a few days I even toyed with the idea of dismounting one card and reconnecting the crossfire cable but then again there was a great risk of not being able to put together cooler with graphics card and mounting it back, so I took it to a shop.

Magic & X - thanks for the info/help. I checked the cards in manager and it indicates both cards are identified and without issues. Still not sure how to verify cable is connected in crossfire configuration without taking laptop appart? Trying to find the performance profile setup location, dont see anything under ATI's config. Is that an ASUS config? I love the computer, some of these issues are annoying though. My sound, mouse and fingerprint scan reader still don't get loaded when first booting up the computer, 2-3 restarts required before they work - ASUS tech has not been helpful with that issue so far other than to say send it in for diagnostic/repair - hesitate to do that since this is my business laptop which I need daily and I have alot of stuff on here (passwords, financial, etc...). X - any idea how long they will keep it for repair? Let us know how that went and whether they corrected your issues/problems satisfactorly. I was a little disturbed when I saw that Newegg no longer had this model for sale - did they stop selling due to issues?

Thanks Again,
Bill

Your correct Bing its discontinued hence the newer model out.
Funny how quick it was discontinued in less than a month.
Defective?Huge possibility but I don't think Asus would take the blame and replace it.
Asus said they're updated drivers are coming out soon but thats been over a month now.

Its like having a brand new Mustang but its always in the shop for repair :(
