i'v got the new EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M/A
part No.: 09-C1CJT0-J0UAY00Z

it came on blue PCB and with Big fan as stock cooler (Picture in the link - http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/6691/pc070088azd1.jpg)

I asked ASUS if this card is their original card, becouse of the strange cooler.  ASUS Technical supp. says "We provide 2 different patterns of EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M/A cards" and this is one of them.

my next question is about the card thermal sensor:

i cant read the temprature of this card, is there any thermal sensor on it?

(11.12.2007 - I sent a mail  to ASUS Tech supp. about this issue and they forword it to their RD engineer to consult this.
so for now i have nothing else but to sit and wait for ASUS Tech to reply my mail about this issue.

I will post their answer when i get one.)

i'v tried SmartDoctor but it offers only the overclocking options without any info about the temprature of the card or fan speeds.

other programs like ntune, everest, rivatuner cant get any information about the voltage/fan speed and they dont show the card temprature (the temprature shown is 0 deg C).
i tried them with diffrent versions of drivers with no success.

some users wrote that ASUS Tech supp. dont try to solve the problem themselves, but give the users make trail and error to solve this problem by installing bios/driver or try it on another windows versions.

till now No One in the Support gives a direct answer to this issue and a way to solve it (they don't check or validate their solutions).

I hope they will treat our problem in more seriously manner.

If anyone have a solution or an answer to this problem  please write!!!

Even if you got Tech support that didn't solve this problem / that asks you to try different things or  if you'r just pissed, share it with us...

( In my mail i refered to this post, to emphasize ASUS support that i'm not the only one having this problem and to show them how the support can abuse users that ask for help )

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gr8 news every body!!!

ASUS support told me this morning that they use a special Sensor in this card
and becouse of that there is no program that can give us info about the card.

they said that the new SmartDoctor Ver 5.084 Will show us the GPU temprature, this version is already uploded by asus to their site and it will take some time to sync...
you can download it from the following link:

http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/vga/app/SmartDoc5084.zip

and guess what???? it's working!!!! my GPU Temp is 39c at idle, and 56c in full load.
but no RAM temprature, Fan control or voltage info.

new link that works: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/vga/app/SmartDoc5084.zip

I want to thank you all for your posts and for sharing your experience with the Support !!!

have Fun with your new EN8800GT :-)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You in Advance.

Hi, I have the same problem with my new EN8800GT with the big fan (I think that is the new fan, you can see it on the 1GB Version of the 8800GT). The support hotline from Asus Germany recommend me to try the new version of "Everest" or nVidia "nTune" to view the temperatures but with that tools I also get no data about the temp.
Maybe the card have really no thermal sensor or the she is damaged.

regards

I just got the same card in the mail, no temp reading either. I checked a few programs and they all say 0.0 degrees Celsius. The speeds of everything show up just fine, just no temps.

Same here!  I have tried the nview monitor,  Asus Smart Doctor,  and Rivatuner.  All of these programs do not show the temperature of my graphics card.

Asus Smart Doctor doesn't even give the option to control fan speeds.. I can only change the clock speeds etc.

I'm glad i'm not the only one.  I am quite happy with how big the fan is on this model.. but at the same time it's disapointing to know that the temp can't be read since the card is $300

here is a forum link of me asking this on tomshardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/247002-33-asus-en8800gt-mine-pictures-online

Hi there all!

I recently received my 8800gt and it turnes out to be a G2 version with the new cooler you all speak about. I to have te problem that i can´t read out the core temps. Another 2 problems i´ve found are that there is no possibilty to change the fan speed in rivatuner. The other problem is that any raisings I make to the clock, shader or memoryspeeds doesn´t affect any of my 3dmark scores. But if i lower the speeds, then it WILL effect the scores. Is there some lock on the card? The only thing I can think about that the locks are apply'ed the protect the ram on the card because there is no heatsink on them.

It will be very nice to read out the temp and change te fanspeeds and much nicer if the clockspeeds can be adjusted to.

Dou you guy's have anu suggestions?

ps. sorry for my typo's

Someone posted here:  http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/247002-33-asus-en8800gt-mine-pictures-online
